Does anybody have the Triumph floorboards($485.00). What comes with them & how hard are they to install. Do you think they are Worth the money. I had the Rivco floorboards, but shifting from 1ST to 2ND was a pain in the ass.

Thanks DICKII

Hate to spill the truth to you, Dick, but floorboards, be they made by Triumph or Rivco, are static, i.e. they have NO built-in gear shifting function.

Are the new "improved" Rivco floorboards THAT bad :???: (I heard they changed them to tilt up more.) My original flat-style Rivcos pose no shift problems at all even wearing my Rockies (heavy cop-style boots) after screwing the lever adjustment up a tad.

After test-riding a Rocket with the Triumph floorboards at Baxter, I became thoroughly convinced I had made the right decision to go with Rivcos, at least for me. The Triumph boards made it difficult to shift from first to second unless I used the heel shifter, then it was no problem. But for me the problem is, I HATE heel shifters!

My 2 cents worth of advice is don't get them unless you're a heel-shifter kinda guy or you have small toes in dainty little boots.

Very Interesting!!! I can get the Rivco Rider and Pillion boards for about the same price as the Triumph boards... I'm not a heel shifter type guy! Who else has the Rivco's and would like to comment??

Jamie what I met by hard to shift, when you have foot pegs your foot pivots. With floorboards on the Rocket III, you have to lift your entire foot. Which is a pain in the ass when your riding hard.( cornering & dragging)

Thanks DICKII

GrayrocketIII, I beg to differ however I can only speak from my own experience. I have just fitted the revised Rivco rider boards with more slope than the originals and find them excellent. The foot angle seems just right for me enabling normal gear changing and braking with the heel still in contact with the foot boards.

I wonder if you lowered the adjustable gear lever position, you might find it worked better without having to jerk your whole foot off the board to effect an upward gear change?

Exactly. You want it where toe of your thickest boot goes under the lever easily but without much play. Problem with the Triumph boards was that there did not appear to be enough adjustment in the lever to ever get it high enough for my Rockies, making heel shifting (or "sole shifting" from side of boot) necessary. Also, if the lever is set to its most severe upright position you lose leverage.
(For those who need it in that position maybe Rivco could make an extended lever kit with a shift knob and suicide clutch...should be a hit with those who REALLY want the retro look  )

I have the Triumph floor boards with heal/toe kit and like it very much. Comfortable for both short and long rides. I think they give a bit more ground clearance too.

I agree. Useless pain in the @ss for the Rocket riding position. And they must be higher than the pegs to avoid hitting the frigging pavement.

I too have the Triumph floorboards with heel shifter. I like them a lot and have no issues with them. My dealer gave them to me at a 40% discount when I bought the bike....of course I'm sure he made up the difference somewhere else!
