New R3T Colors

For all you R3T entusiasts, it appears there are two new colors coming available for 2013. If you look at the motorcycles section of the Triumph website there is a Black with Cranberry accents shown in addition to the two standard colors. If you go to the "Create My Triumph" section you will see an Azure Blue two tone that looks really nice. Spoke to my dealer about these and he is looking into them. He said there has been no communication from Triumph but they are clearly shown on the web site.

When I look they only had the 2 normal color combos (all black and black and white) and the cranberry and black.

What may probably be a really cool color combination is like a deep burgundy and that "off white" on the present R3T.

Basicly, the new colors are "Less Black" and "More Black."

I like the black/red color scheme of the two 2008's that I've owned, but I will say that the Triumph paint appears to really suck in terms of its longevity.

If you look at the paint crossways, you end up with a scratch. If a very large bug hits the front fender, you've got a scratch.

I used to wonder why you would see Rockets with new paint jobs, even though they'd not been wrecked. I think its plain and simple.... if you're the kind of owner who wants the paint to look good for a long time, you either need to coat the bike with the 3M plastic, or you need to have a custom painter do a serious paint job with decent clear coat.

I love my R3T, but I have been disappointed twice in the durability of the paint.

I'm with you. Noticed a few months ago that the paint around the gas cap was peeling. It's not progressed since, but it is disturbing for a new 2011 that has spent over a year in a showroom.

Same with the Tbird. A light wind will scratch the stuff. They need to shoot a final clear coat of non water based paint. It's ridiculous. I am constantly removing scratches.

Daz, after bringing up triumphmotorcycles.com look at the boxes on the bottom of the screen for a blue one labeled "Create My Triumph" Click on it and then click on the "Launch Create My Triumph" button and select the Rocket Touring and you can see the color. It's not real user friendly I'm afraid.

Thanks. I kinda like the blue though I still think a deep burgundy and the "off white/cream" combo would be very cool.
