Yup, the temps are above normal, and tomorrow is supposed to hit 60 F here in DC, so I figured no big deal riding in the rain today. . .

Well, I made it to work safely, but it had been awhile since I'd ridden in the rain in the dark. . .so I reminded myself of the basic rain rule: no sudden moves.

But, it still is so much fun riding the Rocket, even in crappy conditions, and tomorrow I get to run a 175 mile round-trip in ideal conditions, so honing my rain riding skills today is a small price to pay for enjoying the unusually warm January tomorrow.

btw: since I only have a one-car garage, it's sort of a drill to switch the bike and car, and so when I do the switch, I like to make it for at least a couple of days. . .

ride on

I ride allot in the rain here in FLA and the Rocket is a very stable platform compared to something else

I have a one car garage too, I park my car as far over to the right as I can and put the bike on the far left. If I pull the car far enough in I can get the bike out no problem.

I used to dread the rain till i got smart...excuse me...smarter  , and started wearing a fullface helment.
There's nothing like going 70 mph in the pouring rain and being able to see where you are going.

Haven't had the "opportunity" to ride my Rocket in the rain yet. How's that huge rear tire in the wet stuff?

Amazingly good, Dave, i.e. unless it's too worn out. Regardless, just be EASY or at least constant, on the throttle, particularly when angled ("banked" in english english) in curves. And don't stomp on that rear brake pedal in the wet. Best

great stability with the caveats expressed by Jamie and others. . .

I just won't wear a full-face helmet. . .too much fog, etc., so I always wear a bandana that I can pull up over my nose and mouth, etc., to cut down the rain needles. . .i.e., those soft raindrops turn into needles at 70 mph.

My eyeglasses clear of just from the wind, though not much of that since I use a Triumph summer screen and that sends most of the air rushing over my head.

ride on

Sounds great. I've ridden my share in the rain, just not with a 240 rear tire. Glad you're getting to get out and ride some up there! That's why I live down here in the South..

Believe it or not the Rocket is a fantastic rain bike, I agree with everyone who previously posted. I have ridden in all sorts of junk with this bike and it always feels incredible stable.

I haven't had much of an opportunity to ride in the rain much. What I did ride in was fine with the exception of stinging my face. But that won't happen again. I got me a full face helmet. But my honey rode over 450miles in heavy rain last January on his way to Vegas. He was so excited about the way it handled in the rain he talked about it for months. He has changed to a car tire now. But he thinks the tread will do well in the rain also. That is if we ever get anymore rain here in Texas. :-D

I hear ya, Ridin... Selfishly, I hope the rains stay away. But March is coming. I should probably start on that Ark pretty soon!

Be safe.
