Hiya Hiya,

I just found out this forum and I am about to purchase one Rocket III 05 from Eurosport in Fort Worth. I've been searching for and all around bike, last month I got to test drive all kinds of Triumph bikes. After all those riding I decided I want a good size bike, Rocket III was my final choice.

I did looked at other bikes from A-Z. I found Triumph is more appealing to me. Some of my friends ride Harleys majority of them are Honda owners. They think Triumph is hard to maintain and expensive. I could use some input here from actual owners rather than from salesman's stand point?

Thank You!!

Your friends are thinking of the Triumphs of old..and maybe those were a maintenance problem. My Rocket, which I have had for 21k, is not.

Welcome to the forum.. I will be picking my R-III up at RPM Cycles this coming weekend.

Obviously, I can't speak for it maintenance wise, but I owned a Thunderbird Sport for 4 years and 36,000 miles. The only problem I ever had was I had to replace the brushes in the starter once. The current owner is coming up on 40,000 miles and she still runs better than new. I sure miss that bike!

New Triumph's are very reliable bikes, as reliable as any on the market today. That big motor is so under-stressed ,with proper maintenance, it should last a long, long time.

The Rocket III has an automotive-type service interval of 10'000 miles/16'000 k's, after the initial service. If you can check your oil and coolant levels (and the hardware tightness) yourself in-between, it's a no-brainer. Labour cost is about the same as charged by the local Honda dealers, less expensive than the HD dealer (and, yes, I have owned both brands). Best Wishes.
