Hi all,
Is there a taller than stock windshield available for the Rocket III Touring? I'm 6'2" and the stock windshield is a couple inches too short. I haven't had much luck searching for a replacement quick-release windshield so far.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I decided to get one of these first: http://www.laminarlip.com/rocket3.php to try to see if that will eliminate or reduce the buffeting. Just got it yesterday and haven't had a chance to give that a whirl.
The Laminar Lip (even though I got it on slightly crooked, argh) made a huge difference. Still a little bit of buffeting around the helmet but it's almost entirely gone. Before I had issues riding with the face shield up but now that's no problem. Perfect timing for my little vacation jaunt in a week or two.
I seriously considered a higher shield, but may settle for the lip. We'll see for next season - I really don't want it 4 inches wider, I kind of like that there is still some airflow on the body. I just didn't want the nasty turbulence around the helmet.
Ahh .. I hadn't considered the reduced airflow resulting from the wider windshield. I ordered the 19" earlier tonight (with the curved top.. I think it looks pretty cool). I'll let you know my review of riding with it once it gets in and installed.
A friend of mine got a Cee bailey windshield.
It was cheap $150 I think it was.
Real tall, about 5" or more over stock,
and it has the lip on top which he says
is a fantastic improvement over stock.
