After last Friday's rain ride, and my trouble with visibility through my face shield because of rain drops and truck splatter, I gave some thought over the weekend as to how I could fix that. I have seen Plexus recommended and other products. Rainex is said to not be good because it will ruin plexigalss.

But I found a simple cheap solution that is readily available in any kitchen...wax paper. I waxed down my faceshield with wax paper last night and rode to work in the rain today, coming home after dark. The visiblity improved greatly such that I did not have to wipe the faceshield off while riding.

I came up with the idea when I remembered how, as kids, we used to wax down the slides with wax paper to give the slide more horspower....it always worked great.

Whatever is in the kitchen.

It worked well enough for me to solve the problem. Plexus may work better, but the wax paper was in the kitchen and ready to go. I also cut a few pieces off, folded them, and tucked them into my helmet for future use somewhere out in the boonies.

I use Plexus everyday to clean my faceshield, windscreen, mirrrors, chrome... everything, really. The stuff is amazing, but it's a cleaner. I don't think it can be used to aid in water-repellency.

I was just giving info I had seen from other forums, I have never used plexus myself.

In that case, wax paper it is for better rain visibility.
