Triumph Rocket III Performance Modifications
The following changes should reduce the overall weight of the bike by 95 pounds and provide close to 300 horsepower and 300 ft/lbs. of torque. These values equate to an approximate 9 second quarter mile! These are only approximate values!
1. Change to 3 into 1 exhaust with better exhaust clearance. Possibly even us a carbon fiber exhaust. This will make the bike lighter by 20-30 pounds.
2. Weld cut solid steel bracket mounts for rear foot pegs and exhaust. This should reduce weight by 10-15 pounds.
3. Replace rear fender and front fender with carbon fiber or fiberglass molded fenders. This should reduce weight by 5-10 pounds.
4. Remove stock air-box, plenum and chrome bear-claw cover. This should reduce weight by 1-5 pounds.
5. Rebuild stock frame out of carbon fiber, aluminum, titanium, or some super light but strong alloy. This should reduce weight by 15-50 pounds depending on the material.
6. Replace allow wheels with carbon fiber rims. This should decrease weight by 3-5 pounds.
7. Revamp the cam, valve and port system and increase the compression ratio. Replace with titanium rods and gearing if not done already? This should easily bring horsepower numbers up to approx. 200bhp.
8. Replace free flow air system with an induction supercharger. Replace stock fuel pump with larger pump and add extra fuel injectors. These two modifications should bring horsepower numbers to approx. 330bhp but increase weight by 20 pounds.
9. Remove secondary butterfly system to increase power in gear 1, 2 and 3.
10. Remove computer speed limiter and change engine rev limiter because of engine modifications allowing for faster rpm’s!
11. Change gearbox to increase gear ratios (90 mph at 2000 rpm) or include a sixth gear (super overdrive) to accomplish the same speed / rpm ratio as above.
