All Rockets now come with a full catbox. Cheapest way around it is get the catbypass pipe or what Triumph calls the silencer upgrade kit. Last I remember it was $350 USD. That'll up your stock pipes' sound and give a bit more power.

More expensive way around it is to replace the entire exhaust system with an aftermarket solution like the Jardine 3 into 1, but when selecting one make sure it replaces/throws out the catbox instead of connect through it.

Many of us with the N catbox removed it pronto, a C catbox should be trashed at the earliest opportunity.

Well, if you "just throw it out" you might as well throw out your pipes too since they'll no longer be connected to the headers!

Humble, your other options are Thunder pipes sold in the states through 'newr3' or 'Staintune', which make a stainless three into two or three... Also with a stainless collector which replaces the cat. AussiebikerDavo of this very Forum manufactures the Maddog pipes which can be utilized with the Triumph cat replacement.

My advice is to fit a PCIII with whatever upgrade you chose to maximise the HP and smooth out the delivery and get rid of any decel popping.

Then of course replace the stock rear shocks :-D

Hello humble, you have to remove the catbox in order to install a bypass. Real easy job, if you do a search on the forum you will find lots of information.

I don't think I would bother with the by pass pipe for $350.00 . I bought a set of D&Ds for $ 500.00 and they do away with the catbox and give a nice tone too .

Thanks everyone for all the help.....I called my dealer..........he said......"no problem, just come in for your 500 service and I will swap out yours for one with no cat"
is that worth doing, or should I just pass? As I understand it now, I CAN eliminate the box, but will have to get after market setup of some kind......because the box is actually part of the exhaust now...........makes sense.

Thanks again....................oh yeh...........part of the "dropped a Rocket" club now..............jeeeesh...........and I told my wife, the limp was because my boots hurt!
