Here are great flag examples done by a fellow custom painter across the pond - Sam Hughes
His site is
bikeart.co.uk
Mike Lavallee (Killer Paint) is a first rate custom painter based in Washington state and he is the originator of the popular Tru-Fire realistic flames that every other painter wants to copy today. I don't recall him ever doing waving flag work though.
Realistic waving flag work is difficult to pull off so whoever you pick to paint should have a good amount of airbrushing experience. They don't necessarily need to have done flag work before, but definitely should have at least a few years airbrush experience.
If your friend is near Houston, Sunshine, I highly recommend my good painter friend James Armentor. His site is
armentorartworks.com
Of course, I wouldn't be a painter if I didn't recommend my own services. I'm in the upper midwest in MN and you can see my work at
MainstreamMedia.com
Good luck and have fun. That's what true custom paint is all about.
