I read a recent review of the ugly Boulevard M109 bike made by Suzuki. It also uses a 240 rear, but made by Dunlop. The article did not mention exact tire specs, just 240 rear, so I don't if that Dunlop is compatible with our Metzeler ME880's. Anyone find better tire specs on that bike?

Alright, here's what I got...

Rockets use Metzeler ME880:
front 150/80VR17
rear 240/50VR16

M109R use unspecified brand/model on Suzuki site but review said Dunlop:
front 130/70R18 M/C 63V
rear 240/40R18 M/C 79V

Now if I can remember how to read those numbers, the first is width in millimeters, second is sidewall thickness in percentage of width, third is radius of wheel in inches.

So if I'm right, the M109R tires are not compatible because the radius is larger 18 inches to our 16.

As wide rear tires get more popular on mainstream production bikes there will surely be substitutes that'll work ("just looking" the Rocket can probably accept at least up to a 250 without scraping anything and going a tad less than 240 would hardly be noticeable either). However it's got to be the right rim size. The zook's isn't.
