Just read the new Cycle World showcasing that big new Suzuki, and i must say...Suzuki is full of it!
They are claiming the largest displacement ,purpose built motorcycle made due to its odd bore and stoke. Still it's only a 109 cubic inches (around a 1700cc)and all of a 125 horsepower. They didn't say if that was off the crank or the rear wheel, but i imagine the crank.
Can't wait to add another "notch" in the frame rail when i spank and embarrass bike and owner both!

Weeeell, even though Suzuki may be stretching things at both ends with their claims and exaggerations and even though this bike does not equal the mighty Rocket in size, power and catchet (whatever that means!), there is no denying that this bike will be one mean rooster among a chook pen full of regular V-Twin cruisers.
The engine and chassis specs eg valve angles, number of valves, bore/stroke ratios, radial brakes etc etc speak of SV1000 type performance instead of the usual FLH type performance, so stand back V-twin cruiser world 'cos this bike WILL make a splash.
To underscore all of the above, the styling boys have produced a look that combines sportbike elements from the Hayabusa et al. A bit of a gamble for Suzuki but one that I think will pay of!
Hey Rocket men, dont be threatened by all this Japanese wizardry 'cos in my view the R3 is the total ducks guts but give credit where credit's due! Let's face it boys, yer b'party would be pretty dull if all yer mother could serve up was orange jello with yer icecream. Blackberry flavoured jello is nice too!!!

although i have no brand loyalty and just get what ever looks good and fits me at the moment, the rocket3 is a better looker, offers more performance and better overall cruiser for sure imo if the preliminary info/pictures are accurrate about the suzuki.

Is this what you're talking about???
Or is it this???
Oh No... you're not back to this thing with the freaked out headlamp...
It may be a fast bike but it makes that reporter look stupid. I'd have trouble racing one 'cause I'd be laughing too hard...

Re-read the article, it says it uses the largest piston width in the business, car or bike. And yes, it does, the pistons are 112 mm wide. larger than the Rocket OR the viper car. They shortened the stroke to keep the engine height down. A big cc motor with a short stroke, I wanna' ride this one.......AND it looks cool too......

Didn't we bash this bike already? The thing is still ugly. Looks like a mishmash of totally different AND ugly bikes. Yuck.
Widest pistons? Do I care? No. 109 cubes is ok, just a tad shy of the Rocket's 140 cubes. Performance specs are ok, well, excellent if comparing to vtwins, but just ok in Rocketland. Wake me up when a real competitor is showcased... maybe that new VMax... maybe.

It's a lot of bike for $12,400. But its still Harley clone.
I'd like to see a bike along the lines of a Bonneville or V-Max with a GSX 1300R engine.

That headlight cowling reminds me of an old German made scooter i've seen before. Can't remember the name, think it starts with a D.
Anyways...in regards to big bore, big piston...when you push and pull large diameter, short skirt pistons straight up and down,(inline Rocket motors) your OK. When you do the same in an angle, (V-twin) pistion tipping could be induced which leads to skirt, cylinder and ring wear.
