The rocket was blown over on it's side during Wilma and couldn't be gotten to for two days.

Fortunately it sustained minor cosmetic damages.

When I righted the bike and check the oil, the stick show it was bit low.

Is it necessary to remove the spark plugs and turn over the motor to release any trapped oil (was advised to do so by a harley rider to prevent engine damage)?

What say Ye fellow Rocketeers? :???:

Seems a little far-fetched since the Rocket is a dry sump oiling system, meaning the engine oil resides in a seperate tank and is pumped to the engine, filtered and retruned to the oil tank. (as does a Harley). The engine itself contains very little oil.
The only way to get oil in the cylinders would be to get by the oil control rings, which would have to be very worn and flooded with oil.

If it was on its side for two days and you think a certain amount of oil seeped past the rings up into the combustion chamber... set it up for two days and it will seep back out.. :-D

I'm with Mr. Big here... I doubt much got out of the oil tank into your combustion chamber. Just tap the starter button quickly and see if the motor turns over. If it does hydrolock you hit the starter so lightly it won't hurt anything. Chances are almost 100% its going to spin over. If you are really worried pull the plugs.

Just a note.... I work on cars for a living and every once in awhile we will get a car in that has blown a head gasket and we know for a fact we have a cylinder full of antifreeze. I'll pull the spark plugs and then we will get the newbie mechanic to stand in front of the car while we spin it over. If you do it just right you can hit him in the head with a hyper stream of antifreeze that will usually knock him off his feet. I love my job...
