Got chased by French cops last Sunday on a motorway in Bourgogne. One patrol car with flashing lights followed by two bikes, coming out of nowhere. Spectacular. Very nervously signaling me to exit the highway. Which I did. Down the exit ramp, two other patrol cars were waiting. A total of 6 or 7 cops just for me (at the time).........

Hello Jamie,

You should write the next Bruce Willis movie script. You and Ugarte seems to be talented for that.

About the others, don't believe what you see at the TV drinking your coke and eating your disgusting hamburger.
The is also a civilized word outside the U.S.

The R III for example is not produced in U.S as far as I know and It seems to be a good bike isn't it ?

These days it's "Show me the money". The troopers in my neighboring state, Wisconsin, carry credit card scanners so you can pay on the spot. Maybe a product of too many runners out with arrest warrants because they have a dozen unpaid tickets in their glove boxes...
Yep it's coming to that and I can see them accepting credit cards since the payment goes directly to the proper authority with plenty of audit trail. Most still don't want cops accepting cash because of the potential problems it can lead to e.g. the ticket deadbeat who claims "I paid that cop in cash--he must have kept it for himself!"

Hey the French are very civilized. For example Turkey has to improve their culture to an acceptable French level before they get accepted in the EU. So they are not only mad at Coke and Hamburgers but Turkish coffee also....

It's fair to add a sub-title to my --factual-- post: In my own little country, with an excess of 30+, license could have been removed (has already happened to me) and vehicle impounded on the spot. That is, BTW, why I still do most of my riding in France, TrackerJack.

I've had trouble with those darn French coppers too.In about July 1975 my wife and I were just getting into our tour of Europe on the trusty 850 Commando. We were cruising along a country road at about 70-75 mph when a Gendarme stepped out from the bushes and gave me an imperious"Alt"salute.I briefly thought about stopping but then saw his corrugated tin pursuit vehicle on the side road and thought ,bugger it , and opened the throttle a little more.Missus shouts to stop cos they've got guns and he might shoot. "Won't hit me " I replied as I gunned it a bit more.Man was I in the***** after that.
Darn French cops.
ps.First ride today for a month, due to wet, wet, wet. It felt GOOD!

I see now what you mean when you say "effective"

Fun in New Orleans

4 "effective" bastards for one old man. I'm very impressed.

So, I think you can put your own house in order before speaking about others.
Would be much better if we could only speak about motorcycles here, especially the Brit R III.
And as Jamie told us we have to respect the speed limits in others Countries like we we do in our own country.
