Tom, the LED's won't fit in the r3 housing, "cause it doesn't open. AAAND, the featured tail light is waaay too small for the r3 opening. That lamp is pretty small.

If you want LED's, go to spider lights. They are LEDs that are on arms. You stick them in the original hole and the arms open up and fill the lamp housing with light. They are brighter on both the running mode and the brake light. Also are omni-directional.

Hard to believe that it's already been a YEAR since I opened up my tail light and installed a 128-LED board from Radiantz.

You want bright? This sucker is BRIGHT and looks stock...until you hit the brakes.

Chippie1;
Which model / part no did you order. I see the ones for Honda's 9012-11 for VTX/Shadow, Ace, et; 9013-11 for VTX 1300-1800 both of which have 128 led's as indicated in your note below.

Hey there,

I originally had this on my VStar 1100. It is kit 9011-11. It has a standard plug-in pigtail. No modification to the wiring needed. A bit of "Dremel artwork" is needed on the housing though, and I noticed on the website that it looks like you have to buy the whole taillight assembly (including lens). When I bought mine they sold the board separately and you replaced the guts of your taillight (minor work). It was a lot cheaper back then. I guess now you would have to buy the whole thing and remove the board? Looks like it's just screwed down with 2 screws.

I tried to take some pics a while back and they turned out bad. I guess LEDs don't photograph too well, despite the fact that I kept telling them they looked marvelous...

Anyway this is definitely a worthwhile mod.
