I can shake on that .
Now mind you am I really defending the dealer? I think most of them are halfwits, that is why I give them all tons of slack. It seems most can't help themselves but to continously shoot themselves in their feet

Yeah, but HD dealers are !!!NOT!!! supposed to let the general public see new bikes until that same day they go on the website. Any dealer who deliberately violates this can get in DEEP doo-doo with the MoCo up to and including getting his franchise jerked, if disregard for what is part of their *contract* is flagrant enough.

> Please tell me what the business benefits for the dealer to point me out to Triumph would be, why would he not just behave naturally?
As you yourself have said, you don't really know that he did turn you in. Even so, I think you're applying a double standard in forgiving Triumph for showing you the door but busting the dealer's chops for the part he may (or may not) have had in it.
It doesn't matter WHY you were there or how innocent your intentions... Triumph would have no way of verifying that. And for that matter, neither would your dealer, based on what you've since told us!
As a "senior business man" I'm very surprised that you didn't think of the problems you might cause for your dealer by turning up there. Non-disclosure agreements are a very big part of business when companies are bringing out new products. The dealer's convention is NOT a trade show! And more business goes on there than just the introduction of new models, none of which is any of our business as customers.
When you had "tipped off" the dealer the day before that you might try to crash the event, he probably didn't take it all that seriously. But when you DID, in fact, show up, you put him in an extremely awkward spot--and I fully imagine he wondered at that moment just how innocent your intentions were.
Better to let this sleeping dog lie and patch up relations with the dealer if he's been good to you in the past.

Diego,
The reason why I have a “double standard” toward Triumph is that their actions are consistent with their business goals of unveiling these models exclusively to the dealer-owners. I knew this going in so I was not upset with them for enforcing their wishes…the dealer on the other hand has nothing to lose by my viewing the bike…quite the contrary since I have made it clear that I am ready to buy and am only awaiting information on the 06 in order to place my pre-order.
Before you continue to suggest that he could have gotten in trouble with Triumph let me make it clear that Triumph had no way of knowing who I was, and who I had dealt with if anyone. As I said, the dealer could have just remained neutral, not gotten involved either way and therefore not have lost a customer they actively pointed out as not belonging (working off the assumption that he did which I have already said I leave room for him to correct that assumption if incorrect – but you don’t really care about that do you? You would defend him even if he did go out of his way to point me out).
The reason why my business is successful is twofold….1) I hold my customers in high regards and they know it. I often sacrifice short term gains for long term relationship building and long-term gains. …and 2) The vast majority of my competitors are ignorant of the most basic customer service practices so they make me look all the better. You seem to favor the company of the later which is fine but to be honest as long as that continues to be the case you have nothing of value to offer me in regards to how businesses should treat customers.
Clear enough?

Bikernoob.....
Good for you. If I would have been there and my dealer appeared to rat me out I would be just as dissapointed as you were. If he did rat you out... there are so many other different ways he could have handled this with out offending anyone.
Vonbonds... get back over on your side.. :-D :-D :-D I'm just kidding.. now get back over on your side.
You never know... maybe your dealer was trying to earn brownie points with TMA so he gets bigger allocations so he can discount you a Rocket.... I'm reaching here... aren't I???

Snuck in, got caught, maybe someone told on you?
Trespassing, indignant at the outcome.
If you choose not to do business with that dealer it is probably to his benefit in the long run.

Interesting reading this post... The first half slapping Nooby on the back telling him he's a super spy and has brass balls as big as bowling balls... Then it slides into how mean and naughty he is for dissing the dealer who may of hobbled him.
Good on you Noob for crashing the party. You do what you want with the dealer cause it's your prerogative to deal with whoever you want anyway and for whatever reason. At least they didn't call the police eh Noob or you might be buying a Honda instead of a Rocket!? I imagine though that the dealer doesn't know you as well as you know yourself and he just did what he thought was right at the time.
Anyway take a freaking camera next time will Ya??

Hey, huge congrats to you and the excellent job of infiltrating the tent.
I for one choose to not get involved in the "who did wrong by whom" debate.
But know ye this, with some great riding weather still available in the state of Arizona, The changes aren't that radical to lose that time over. Mark my words !!
Now what about the paint issue ? Will the Cherry-Black two tone jobs be faster or slower than the now existing solid Red, Black, or Silver bikes ?? Only in time yet to come will we realize the answer.
But, it's the 2006 R III, and I look forward to seeing many riders on them.

That picture ROCKETNM posted here is straight from the show, I recognize the placement of the bikes.
Foreground is the Black and Cherry, next one is Cherry and White, and you can see a bit of the solid gold in the background.
Whoever took that pic is either another 007 or a dealer with less of a stick up his ass.

Yeah, I’m sooo mad for getting caught. Reading comprehension is your friend! :hammer:
And you are truly clueless if you think it’s the manufacturer the dealer should be sucking up to. I’m sure Triumph will take real good care of him when similar treatment towards other lowly customers causes his sales stats to drop through the floor.
Btw, this is the same dealer one of my Arizona brothers on this board warned me off of on another post here on this board.
