Yeah, take it easy on the dealer, especially if he's done right by you business-wise. It's not that easy to find good dealers.
You were the one who crashed the party, after all, and it is Triumph's legitimate concern when and with whom they wish to have their business affairs discussed. So, just be grateful you had your 15 minutes, as we in this forum are grateful for your report, and don't show your tail toward the dealer. He wasn't the one in the wrong.

I have no ill will towards Triumph or their reps for escorting an uninvited guest out of their tent, I completely understand.
The dealer on the other hand had no real business related reason for pointing me out to Triumph, quit the contrary. I may be a bikernoob, but I am a senior business man who owns my own services company and the fact is that the customer comes first. Knowing that I was a serious customer the dealer should have been at worst “neutral” about my presence, maybe given me a wink and gone about his business pretty much ignoring that I was there. I might even suggest that he could have offered to “sponsor” me as an “employee” the day before when I told him of my plans to take a peek, although I would certainly not expect that.
Look, the biker community is a VERY small community of people who share their information and experiences. Dealers can not afford to act in an adversarial manner towards their customers; they risk losing much more than the business of a single individual.
Now I have not listed the name of the dealer because I have not given him the opportunity to deny his actions. I will speak with him tomorrow when he is back from the show and if he confirms my suspicions than I will offer that information to those I come in contact so that they can decide for themselves if he is someone they wish to do business with. I would suspect that many would not.
