I have tried the search but cannot find the advice I am looking for, so here goes:
1. What shocks are best? I have found a supplier in UK for progressives but I am runing maddogs so the 13" wont fit apparantly so whats the next best option?
2. I am after a new seat, what are the choices? I am want a comfy dualseat for long distance touring, pillion seat must be comfy too. Any got the Corbin dual tourer? Is it as good as they say? I have the Triumph Touring Gel Seat but both pillion and I have numb bum syndrome after 100+ miles.
3. I have the maddog zorsts (excellent) with catbox but since installation I get backfiring/popping on overrun and more worryingly I have recently experienced loud backfiring through air intake when throttle blipped. Is there a simple "tune fix" or any other mod to ease this phenomenum? anyone else had similar problems with the Maddogs??

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks all

Hey Grim... You should still be able to run the 12.5 inch Progressives with the Maddogs. Davo runs with the Fornales at the moment, I still can't see why the 13inch don't fit but Davo is the guru when it comes to such things.

'Metcruze' here in Australia put out a dual touring seat with backrest but the Corbins are pretty good. There was one for sale on this site not long ago.

You will probably need to get a PCIII to get rid of the decel popping & farting... It seems the only real cure. There are maps available from other Captains who hav had tunes done with Maddogs.

Goodluck :-D

How poor is the gel seat compared to the o/e version ? Was hoping to get the gel seat, mainly because my wife was complaining about it more than a little !! Especially after a trip around France and Belgium to try the bike out.
Also thinking of the power commander once the bike is out of warrenty, as the original slow speed/small throttle opening fueling is atrocious by todays standards.
let us know how you get on.

I have the Corbin dual touring seat and find it very comfortable. It is firm but I can ride it all day. I have had one on several different bikes. I have the Corbin bags and had to move the rear pegs forward. The stock one are tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooo far back.

Your are right the shocks suck.

For shocks some riders are using Wilbers from Germany.
Try their website wilbers.de and ask for Vanessa..!
She speaks English but the site is German..

Hello folks,

i have the Corbin seat, (as a replacement to the gel seat) and believe it was a good switch. just like you, my backside was numb on the gel w/in an hour. i don't have this problem with the Corbin. The Corbin seat installation does NOT allow you to use the key access to under the seat.

FYI...if you go with the heated seat option, make sure you brainstorm on alternative installation options. My shop did the install and did it according to the instructions and it's a messy setup to say the least. Cutting the fuse box, using velcro...a mess. the integrity of the fuse bow is completely compromised and I will have to get in there and change it completely around. haven't done it yet...got pissed off, put the seat back on when i saw it!

i have been looking at the Wilbur shocks (as recommended by some of the owners on this site). I have the Corbin hard bags and need to figure out which model will work with this configuration (the 630's or 633's...i have pictures of both but can not seem to load them up on this post...). I would like to go with the 633, due to the adjust-ability, but need to be sure they will fit with the bags...any body have this setup. The current setup does NOT work with my girl at all. 70 mph on the highway and you hit a bump and she feels like she's going to bounce into the median. I need chiropractic treatment after a 2 hr ride.

I am hoping that the combination of seat and shock modification will work.

Cheers,

MCJnullnull
