When I was up at Baxter's I met a Bonnie rider that had a Catseye bicycle computer (speedo) on his Bonnie. He said he was able to set it up so that it was very accurate (as far as MPH and distance traveled were concerned).
Catseye Speedo
His had a wire running from his front fork to the speedo head mounted on the handle bar, and he had to make a custom bracket to mount the speedo head on the handlebar.
I liked it because it gave info like highest speed reached on last trip.... average mph.... stuff like that. He said he paid $25 for it and if you check the home page on the link above they have it on sale for that... but alas... out of stock!!!
My local bicycle shop has it for $35 and a wireless version for $45.
Would a GPS do all of this and be as accurate? What is the advantage to a GPS?? Prices are probably a lot higher. Would it be something I could have fun with even though I don't do a whole lot of long distance road work???
Do GPS units croak when they get wet???
