I like my vstrom for its versatility and lightweight, and my vs 800 Intruder for low seat height, good speed, and chopperish looks.

But the Rocket rules the roost. :-D :-D

Sbljr, you thought the mention of HD's name would be mud with some of us?

Right?

Hackneyed jokes about yours being a well restored '54? HD's product evolution not going by model year but rather by model decade, anyway? The medicare-endorsed power? Fog lamps that should be reversed and directed towards the rider's eyes...

Wrong!

No such wanton remarks no more . I promise. The '06 tank badge graphics look cool, though.

I have a suggestion. May I present to you the next big thing, and my current lust object. Available in the US in February 2006.

KTM 950 Supermoto

This is going to be big. Sportbike power with dirtbike flickableness(is that a word?)

Hi Renton,

Available in France since May 2005, I've made a road test (French biggest KTM dealer not far from my house).
It's an AWESOME" bike !
My next bike too !

I am sure the KTM supermoto bike will not be cheap. Has anyone tried the Suzuki DRZ-400SM? I am sure it isn't in the same league as the KTM due to displacement but I bet it is fun all the same!

Hey Tom, I think you have identified a true trend amongst Rocket owners and I think it is all to do with the high performance nature of these Euro bikes.....we like high performance.

Renton, the reason I sold the 950 Adventure was that I got jacked off with it when it came to doing basic work like changing oil and filters. Like it's almost a total strip down.

Davo

PS Imagine the KTM 950 trail with the 990 Super Duke motor in place, how would you keep the knobs on the back tyre???? :-D

I think many Rocket owner love the Rocket in spite of its cruiserness. I am not really a cruiser person, but the performance of the Rocket can not be ignored.

My friend has a KTM 625 Supermotard, he told me the same thing about oil changes. There no local dealers here anyhow. That is the only thing keeping from giving my deposit tomorrow. I'm worried about how difficult they are to service. Its like buying a Ferrari 30 years ago. Its an exotic.

No Super Duke in the US for a while it seems. What a cool machine.

Renton

For those following the KTM 950 Supermoto in the US the MSRP will be $12,998. It's good to be in a market that does not know what these things are yet. Many sportbiker squids are going to be surprised when this dirt bike won't get out of their mirrors. :-D

The Suzuki is (obviously) just a DRZ400S with different tires plus a few minor changes and cool bits, and it is even more reasonable if you just buy a non-M and change the tires. There is one problem though. The DRZ isn't really a proper street bike, it just has lights so you won't get busted by Sheriff Greenteeth if you need to cross a short stretch of tarmac between trails. One change they didn't make was putting a real seat on it. Believe it or not, Corbin makes one for the DRZ but I don't know if it is even remotely bearable or not. The stock seat isn't if you actually intend to go anywhere.

My honey has a Boss Hoss and a Rocket III. He rides both. The bikes are two different kinds of ride and both are attention getters. And of course both are black.

I still have to say "eenie-meenie-minie-mo" between my Rocket III and my red !999 Thnderbird sport with speed-triple cams and ignitor.

I like the nimble feel of the T-sport, but also the torque of the Rocket.
