Renton, you have great taste in motorcycles!!!
Personally I ride my Thunderbird Sport quite often. Jus a different ride all together. If I had two cruisers I doubt I would ride the other one at all though. Variety is the spice of life!

Hey Renton, even if it's not a word, we know what you mean. Some time back KTM released a pic of the same bike but fitted with dirt wheels and knobbies... ahhhh, THATIDBE nice!!!
PS I owned a 950 Adventure last year so know all about these things! They're awesome... best hi-po V-twin engine yet made, in my books!

Yep, I ride my Victory Classic quite a bit, depending on the mood. I like v-twins and it has a dandy. I've got it set up with Corbin bags, factory shield and Mustang seat so it works well for short trips with the girl friend. I keep thinking I should sell it, but can't bring myself to do so. It's dead-nuts reliable, paid for, discontinued, handles great two up, and is kinda funky.
I have the KLX stripped for dirt riding now, so don't use it much.
Once in a while I get to ride the daughter's 250 Ninja, and I'm here to tell ya, that thing is a blast! Leaves me giggling every time I ride it. Sport biking at its purest, IMO.
Although it may seem counter-intuitive, it makes sense if you're an addict to have at least 2 bikes in WA because your bike doesn't have to be down long and you've missed the entire dry season. It was on a Thursday this year. :-D

Davo,
I think you are talking about the new KTM 950 Enduro! Built to fend off the upcoming BMW HP2.
Both of these bikes will rewrite the books on motorcycles.

BMW HP2 A sub 400lb 1200cc dirtbike!

I'm starting to notice that more than a few Rocket owners like BMWs, KTMs and Ducatis but have little intrest in other cruisers. Is it because we allready have the best cruiser out there and the rest are boring?
The longer time goes on the more I miss my 2000 Speed Triple. I luv the Rocket, but the Triple did showdog tricks. It was a hoot.... I've never had a dual purpose bike (put a "D" in place of the "b' on "bike" and you will see one of the biggest missprints I almost ever had)
Maybe I should just stop here :-D

Hey Tom, I think you have identified a true trend amongst Rocket owners and I think it is all to do with the high performance nature of these Euro bikes. This might explain why we were attracted to the Rocket in the first place which is probably the same reason as we were attracted to our better halves ie, we like high performance. (oops, better be careful otherwise could be a case of "not happy Jan")
Renton, the reason I sold the 950 Adventure was that I got jacked off with it when it came to doing basic work like changing oil and filters. Like it's almost a total strip down. One day I was looking at all the parts that had been removed off the bike just to do this job and thought, stuff this, what if I have to check the valve clearances!!! TOTAL strip down. So I sold it!
I suppose it's OK if you take it to a dealer and dont mind paying big bills OR if it's your only bike and you share the task with a case of beer over an entire weekend to turn it into a fun exercise but when it's just one of a stack of bikes that I have to service and maintain... no thanks.
The KTM trail bike version above wont be half as bad in this regard as the motor is exposed enabling much much easier servicing. It still wont beat the Beemer for ease of servicing though. (thats why BMW design their bikes with the barrels pointed outwards... so adjusting tappets is easy! just kidding)
Davo
PS Imagine the KTM 950 trail with the 990 Super Duke motor in place, how would you keep the knobs on the back tyre???? :-D

Hey Steve, I'm assuming you use the word "scooter" in it's loosest sense. If I'm correct could I suggest something like the aforementioned KTM 990 Super Duke.
You dont want to milk to curdle on yer way home if it's a hot day mate :-D :-D

What does an Aussie with head injuries say upon waking up in the hospital emergency room?
Where's my boomerang?
(Sorry, Davo, but I just heard it from an expat compat of yours)
