I have 6000 miles on my Rocket and have had to change the rear tire twice. I don't burn out, but I do ride double most of the time and have the pressure at 42 PSI . Have others experience the same short tire life? Any suggestions? Seems crazy to think I will replace the rear tire 3 times for every front tire. However if that's is the cost I have to pay to smoke any HD made, it is totally worth it.

5000 miles, stretching it a bit. That's solo riding, no baggage (a bit redundant ?), half of it on mountain roads. Rest only slightly above speed local limits (strongly enforced!), say from 60 to 90 mph, i.e. 90 on highways, with occasional incursions over the ton.

May not at all relate to YOUR riding. But 3000 miles seems abnormally LOW to me.

Would start givin'it verbal abuse

I changed out mine at 7,700 miles because I was headed out on a trip. Only did a couple burnouts but play with the power a lot :-D , seldom pack a passenger, kept it at 42psi.

How old is your tire gauge? I bought a new dial type and found my old one was reading 10% low.

Maybe the cool Washington weather and relatively non abrasive road surface makes a difference, but unless you're really hammering on it all the time, 3000 miles seems low to me too. - Not that my opinion makes a difference, ya still gotta shell out the bucks for another tire, don't ya?
:-D

I have gotten about 7K on each of my two rear tires so far. I am 2K into my third and it looks great still. If you aren't doing burn outs you must have some really rough roads near you chewing up your tires.

I just put on my third tire. I've got 7,120 miles on the original
and 8,000 on the second one. I should have changed the second one at 7,000 but I was on a rode trip and thought I'd be fine to get home. There where no flats but for the last 400 miles I was showing cord. I let out about 2-3 psi to ride more on the shoulder of the squared off edges. Keep the psi at 42. Basically 2 rears to every front.
