With about 2900 miles on the Rocket and from idle to about 1500 RPM I hear an unusual tapping noise that is isolated at the front of the bike low in the motor. No impact on performance noted.

Salesman and mechanic confirmed cam roller noise. They expect the noise will disappear in the future as the cam self adjusts or will fix at next maintenance.

Not sure this condition has been reported.

The bike has manually adjustable valves, it will NOT self adjust. Take it to another dealer.

"unusual tapping noise that is isolated at the front of the bike low in the motor"

Are you sure that it is a cam roller noise ?

It also could be the clutch assembly which is sometimes very noisely and is located in the front and low in the engine.

And has said Ron, if your dealer told you that the Rocket III has self adjustable valves, don't bring your bike to him anymore.

Perhaps the dealer meant the cam chain will self adjust?? The cam chain has an automatic tensioner. Either way it seems kind of pie in the sky thinking to me. Try pulling in the clutch to see if that affects the noise. Does it only make the noise when the engine is cold?
