I have got the gel seat for the rocket... and it makes my butt go numb after only 40 miles... the standard seat is not a great deal better.

Does anyone else agree with me??

Has anyone tried a corbin seat for the rocket... are they any better..

my wife refuses to provide butt massage each run!

I found the stock seat quite comfortable compared to my Moto Guzzi, which gave me monkey butt in 1 hour.

Everyone on this board was raving about Corbins, so I shelled out $600 plus for a Dual Tour. Hated it. Wife liked the larger pillion. I only put 6 or 7 hundred miles on it, and everone says you've got to give them 1,000 to break in, so maybe I haven't given it a fair chance. Right now, I've got the stocker back on, and will switch back and forth a few times. But my initial impression is that the Corbin just ain't worth the money.

I suggest trying an Airhawk cushion before spending the bucks on a Corbin.

I found the stock seat an insult!! really. ***** uncomfortable, and such sucking cheap load of ***** on such a classy (and dare I say expensive) bike. Couldn't ride more than an hour before having to get off and stretch.
At least the gel seat I replaced it with allows me to do a full tank without HAVING to climb off!
I was tempted to buy another seat (any other seat) rather than the gel seat just to spite triumph, but after trying the gel seat, and now investing in one, I have to agree with sullyjones, RocketlessTodd, and Dragonjustice.
The gel seat is the way to go.

Why isn't the gel seat stock anyway??

edit: spelling!

thanks for the replies... but it seams that you others find the gel seat to be ok... and am now wondering if it is worth paying for a corbin seat or not as one of you decided that it was not an improvement.

The subject of this thread shows up on every bike forum and will cover ***** near every stock and aftermarket seat made. Unfortunately, it never provides any meaningful "yes" or "no" answers. Seats, just like the shape and position of the bars, are comfortable or not comfortable depending upon the body and riding style of every individual. There is no way to measure "comfort", it's a personal opinion!

Unless you can find someone with the seat that you're considering and they will let you put at least 100 miles or more of butt time on their bike, you're just gonna have to roll the dice and take your chances! I've owned bikes where the stock seats were wonderful and others that I've gone thru as many as three aftermarket seats until I've found one that "fits" ME. Same with bars and risers.

Personally, I found the stock Rocket seat to be very comfortable. I got the Corbin solo seat only because it moved me down and forward in riding position. That made a huge improvement in riding position but both are butt comfortable for ME.

Cogito ergo equito

I changed to the Corbin Dual because I have a wife rider. Stock was ok and corbin is maybe somewhat better. THe back seat is better than stock but my wife still hates it because she thinks it makes her slide forward. She wants back our old Mustang seat. Too bad Mustang doesn't make one for the Rocket.

The sissy bar is her biggest complaint. I need to find a way to make it about 4 to 5 inches taller. I have the tall version already. Any suggestions would be appreciated. When "mama ain't happy...nobody's happy"!

I took a gamble on the sissy bar and took the short one which the wife is happy with.
She hated the standard seat so i bought the gel seat which she hates even more so i had it repacked by a local trimmer to which she finds satisfactory{just} :hammer: .

As for rider seat i find the stock seat more than adequate,
when ur a boney arse 76 kilo{168lb, yankee terms} 40 yo {f&*kin worn out, more than likley yankee terms} u dont notice, seriously i find the stock seat great, i've been on only 400 mile rides and found no probs, but we're all different.

As bob says, its upto the individual.
Anyway, keep wifey happy and you'll have a good ride.

I just make sure i'm up at 6 in the mornin, make sure my ridin gears all ready to go previously , roll the bike out real quiet while wifeys still out like a light, best rides i have, good luck!

PS. dont start the motor till ur out the driveway!

Wife hated the stock, hated the Triumph gel and is happy with the Corbin dual tour and backrest. I hated shelling out for the Corbin but if Momma ain't happy...

The great thing about the Corbin dual tour is that you can get by with a single backrest. You can move it to either position without removing the seat. That's a great design improvement over the previous corbins I've had.

But in the end, it's up to the individuals butt.

One other option that no one has mentioned... exercise and diet to tighten that tushy. :-D
