My son bought me a Chrome Oil Tank for my Birthday. Well it came in yesterday and I went by today to pick it up.

The Tank was terrible, chrome peeling off the back of the tank in 6- 7 places.. the rust under the chrome is very bad. The chrome was peeling up with in a 1/2 inch of the face of the tank in 3 places.

It is a shame that a part that cost that much ever got through QA at Triumph I would be down right embarrassed

I refused to take the tank....asked the dealer to order another tank...I hope that the next one is like it should be....if not I will take pic's of that piece of junk and post it here

Wished I had my camera today..Oh well

Joey

Most of their stuff is "flash" chrome,aka-cheap. I went to my dealer and asked him if he had any trade for chrome take-off tanks, he did. I took one to my chromer and for 80.00 bucks, had it 3-stage chromed,,,,,,,,nice. Then I complained about the o-ring leak at the tank, and Triumph replaced it under warranty.........double nice.

My RIII had the chrome tank installed a few days after delivery. The original glossy black unit looked miserable to me, even more so given the bike's RED finish. The chrome tank looked good then and still looks good today.

How old is your son? Was it his money or his mum's? If NOT his money, wonder whether he somehow got hold of a discarded black tank and had it done by a local chrome-by-night charlatan... and pocketed the price difference?

Hey Guy..

I told him not to do this...but he is 35 and hard headed...like his mother ,,,,I know that is where he got it from... :-D

I told him if the next one is bad...chrome peeling on the back side....next to the weld on the face of the tank. that he could get his money back and pay for moving my tags and rear turn signals.....

Sending a procurement req to JoeyF's wife via PM right away. This is CLEARLY " where he (JoeyF's' son) got it (the chameleon tank) from". Isn't it?
