Am thinking of mounting my panniers with Ghost Brackets. Has anybody had experience with these thangs?
Do they mount the bags securely without the the bags flapping around etc? Whats the guff on these?

Dave ,
I used a set of the ADJ 104 s on Bevs warrior, wich are the same Model the Rocket will use . So far we are very happy with them I almost wish I would have gone that route with mine. The leather bags have a better look to them . THey major catch is whatever bags you mount need a stiff back in them as they bolt to the brackets.

Rockt3, thanks for the post and pic.

If I can ask a specific question; I see that there is no lower attachment or docking point so what stops the bags hanging in toward the bike once the bags are loaded and maybe rubbing on the cycle parts such as the rear shocks?

Am I to assume that the quick release mounting on the two frame spigots holds the bags so firmly that they cannot flex inward at the bottom?

If I am correct in the above assumption, please describe how this all works. Sorry to be a bother!

Davo ,
The mounts on these fit fairly tight and the steel they are made from is a decent gauge . They have far less flex and movement than the Leatherlykes . I also used the American Eagle Leatherworks bags which have the steel reinforced backing . Here are afew more pics if you need any more info glad to help.If you need more detailed pics , Goto my album you can enlarge them there.

Davo,

I have the EZ brackets on my really fast red TBA. They are literally identical to the Ghost brackets. Rockt3 is correct. You need bags with a very rigid rear wall. That is what keeps the bags from hitting the bike. I used Saddleman Drifters. Very heavy rear wall. However, I really didn't like the look of the protruding mounting studs on the fender rail. I don't use bags very often so I just take them off and replace the fender bolts. A five minute job.

I got a set of the K-Drive bags with their quick release from Brent at newbonneville.com for the faster red R3. The K-drive bags have the mounting already installed with an upper and lower support and the fender bracket uses the same four fender rail bolts as the EZ's. IMO, the K-Drive fender bracket looks a bit better with the bags off but I still take them off when I'm not "bagging". I love bare bikes! The K-Drive bags are fine. The newbonnevill.com site under the "Rocket III" heading does not show a picture of what the fender brackets look like with the bags off but if you look under the "America/Speedmaster" heading there is a picture. I scolded Brent for this lack and he told me "not to be a sodding bother and just click on the other area!"! Sniff, sniff! Ahahahahahahahah.........oh *****, I wet myself again! Thank god for adult pampers!

Davo,

Rckt3 posted his pics while I was replying and they reminded me that the EZ (& Ghost) have the large metal 4-bolt plate to attach to the back of the bags to support them. The mind goes after 50, eh? You still should have a fairly strong rear side wall to stand up to the miles of use. The K-Drive attachment is much lighter when you're carrying the bags however. Good luck!

Davo, see my album "cooperman" for a few pictures and ideas.
You can fit almost any pannier to the Ghost brackets, best to make some stiff supports for inside the pannier if they are not fitted. I used some lexan sheet for the Moto Fizz soft panniers and they work great. The tatty looking set I bought off E-bay for 12 quid, they have a lump of alloy plate inside so are nice and secure.
If you need any more info / pictures drop me a line.

Cheers Steve
