Has anyone bought the body kits from Triumph? What is the quality of the fit and finish? I like the orange and yellow.

I have seen them in the shop and the ghost flames are cool. They ARE quite spendy though $2,500?? and for the same or less you can do your own custom paint as I and several others have done (see member maintained albums, p-r, page 2, rocketvet). The triumph kits are decals that have been clear coated over. Then what to do with a whole set of stock tank, fenders, side panels, etc??? Doesn't seem worth it to me.

$2500 is for all new painted items also?? Now the price doesn't seem so high. A top of the line paint job on motorcycles around here will run $2000 easily. And that is nothing truely fancy, jut flames and stuff. Me, never really been into flames.

I am having my slow gray rocket done at Tapeworks as we speak..

And if it looks as good as I think it will..I will have it clear coated...if not just peal it off and start again

Tapeworks.com does a great job, the pics on the net does not do the bikes justices.

I don't like flames...but they have a new thing that is awsome....and if I had a white bike....OH MY...

I will try to post some pics when I get the bike back next week

Yeah, I probably thought the first flame paint job I ever saw on a bike was cool. Can't remember it was so long ago. And I can't remember the last one I saw which had to be during lunch hour since I saw a lot of bikes. Either I'm getting senile or there's so many flame jobs now they have zero visual impact their owners spent megabucks to get...maybe both :???:

Decals and stickers give me the runs. uke:

You could get a decent custom paint job for $2500.
I'm not talking about plain ole flames, either. Just shop around for a reputable painter and you could be surprised what you can get for that much.

Flames, sad, painters now make bikes works of art.
See a bike with flames~oh nice flames end of
See a bike painted with imagination 1/2hr to drink in every detail, standing in awe wondering how on earth someone could produce such one off masterpieces. Les.

So, whats not cool about flames? They are classic .Especially if you don't want to dump 3 grand into a total custom peice of art work.

At least its still red

I'm a gunna paint the Rocket myself !!! got some spray cans from the hardware............jus kiddin.
.........But, I did call in at the auto paint shop to have a we chat and got the low down on Pearl paint, 2 pack, and ghost flaming, so got that sorted and now I'm biting at the bit to do it, so sometime in the near future I will post the outcome, {if theres a rocket forum left to post on} ......I have some expertise in the paint area so am not afraid to do.......when I first got my Black Pig I noted the orange peel effect in the finishing of the paint and new that I would one day have to have a tutu with it, which I did in the first instance by removing a side cover and gently sanded with 1500 wet paper.....I was quite amazed at how little clearcoat there was to remove......within a few minutes I was down to the basecoat complete....BLACK....I then used cutting compound then swirl remover then a polish and man I gotta say it came up sharp lookin and mirror finish......I figured I could apply some clearcoats to add some more luster without the orange peel but not just yet......me wants to add some ghosty flames first, then 27 coats of pearl.......the thing is gunna look like a swimming pool......... and get this......the pearl and clear adds up to 100 odd, bucks. You gotta be happy with that.!!
