Lifted sissy bar/back rest an inch
Used Kuryakin universal licence plate
Found chrome square tubing to suit after mods at hardware store
Drilled holes in rear fender and bolted original turn signals to modified bracket bringing them closer to plate and enough room for saddlebags. Fits under rack and above tail light perfectly. Would also look good without rack.

Rear tyre now free of visual obstruction.

My mod is similar. I went with fender mounted LEDs. Problem is that everyone tells me they are hard to see in the daylight. I like your set up. The turn signals are much more visable. What did you do about the light for the plate?

I just left me off. I may put another LED there to shine on the big fat tire at night.

I think everyone on the Rocket needs to do this mod. It is a shame to cover up that 240.

Looks great. Where did you get the black rubber that sits on the fender? Did you have to weld the square tube to some sort of braket to attach to the back of the plate frame? How did you attach the square tube to the bike? Thanks! Looks really good, best mod for license plate I have seen yet. Also, you said you lifter travel rack and sissy bar? Where did you lift this from?

Thanks for help...

Thanks Guys, I have to give credit where it is due and it's forums like this one that help us all design our mods. Rockt3 gave me the original inspiration with his first licence plate mod last year, and Dragline708 found and posted the raised sissybar photo. Thanks again to both of them.

I drilled another hole mid way between the 2 existing holes on the luggage rack, and on the 2 supporting arms that attach to the bike. Also in between the 2 holes on the sissy bar. Mine is a short sissy bar so maybe with the tall one it can stay in place as was the case with the photo Dragline708 found. You will note that there are now 4 bolts on the luggage rack instead of 2 as before. the lower bolt is a blank to cover the hole. The extra one is to make sure with this mod, my lovely partner does not break through the backrest.

I removed the licence plate light under the guard, the Kuryakin chrome licence surround cover that I got in addition to the bracket has a small plate light (as well as tail light if you want to connect it) It is at the top centre of the cover.

The Kuryakin bracket comes supplied with a flat rubber and a wedge shaped rubber so you can choose between a lay down plate or slightly raised back. I wanted mine to stand up fairly straight to avoid legal issues regarding visibility, so had to cut and add the square tubing as well. The long arm of the law here can get very snotty about small matters like that.

I used a plastic table leg insert with the square tubing on one side where it sits firmly on the rubber, mounted on the guard. The other side had liquid steel bonding it to the plate bracket. The backing of the plate slips inside the square tubing. Need to rough up and prepare the bonding surfaces. There are 3 bolts holding the plate to the guard so it is held very firmly in place. An additional hole was drilled in the centre to allow the wiring for the turn signals and plate light to be passed through.

I like the original turn signals although not out so far as they were, and the tail light as well. It was good to retain them both and get the plate up where it should be. :-D :-D :-D

Bigwilly,

That looks incredible! It's the best license plate/turn signal relocation that I've seen so far. Great work!

Thanks for taking the time to explain the process. I can't believe how good it looks, if Triumph Corporate take a cue and moves the back end, we will know whom to thank...thanks again.
