I gather from the postings and photos of Rocket III owners that many of us are of the Baby Boom generation. If you are like me, as a kid you used to lust after the 70's era Triumphs and Nortons. When Triumph was reborn in Hinkley, it had a ready-made group of enthusiasts who alway wanted to have a chance to own one. The question is, does Triumph, and particularly the Rocket III appeal to younger riders? Does anyone have demographic information on the "typical" Rocket III owner?

f you trawl back though one of my old posts you will see some likely demographics.

Bottom line is, most Rocket riders are in their fifties and act like they're still in their twenties :-D :-D

Hey, that's me! Davo

age is relative, i.e., physiology v. attitude; thus, while many of us are "boomers" our attitudes reflect a zest for living life to the fullest. . .

and the Rocket is a fine tool for living in the fast lane.

ride on

I am 33 and Daman_S is under 30. I think there is even an early 20 year old with a Rocket. I think the price tag is what keeps many young people away. Wait until the bike is out for a few years and the used market pics up for this bike you should see a few more younger people wiht them.

I'm hear to tell you that the younger crowd LOVES the Rocket. My three sons and I did a 850 mile two-day trip across northern PA last week. They range from 20 to 25. At every stop, they're huddled flipping coins to see who gets to approach me about swapping bikes. The pleas started out as "Hey, Dad, could I please ride the Rocket?", to "Hey, come on! Swap bikes, huh" and, finally, to "Get off the ***** bike, old man. Now!!". Sigh! Kids!

I don't think the Rocket is anyone's bike. If you like to ride, how could you not like the R3?? OK, maybe not a very good "starter" bike. LOL!

My 17 year old nephew is very keen to take my rocket out for a ride , he got his bike licence (250) before his car licence on his 17 th birthday. While I was teaching him to pass his bike liccence I gave him a rde on a suzuki GS 1100 G , that got a big smile on his dial !
We just sold his honda CBX 250 and he is in the process of selling his car so on his 18 th birthday he will be applying for a loan to get a bigger bike. I doubt they will lend him enough for a rocket but I'm sure a used Triumph America or Speed Triple could be on the cards!
Until then he might have to resort to bribing his "old" uncle with a case of beer for that ride on the Rocket !!

As I said earlier, 99.99% of Rocket owners are in their fifties or knocking on the door. It just so happens that the other .01% are around 30 and the whole 5 of 'em young whipper snippers are here on this thread... stange eh? :-D :-D :-D
