I just received my Jardines. When you install the Jardines do you install the exhaust header, then the right side pipe then the left side pipe or do you put the right & left side pipes together then the exhaust manifold. Any suggest greatly welcome. (any short cuts)

Thanks DICK II

Dick II,

The instructions (if I remember correctly) have you loosely install the manifold then right side then left side pipes then tighten everything.
When I put my Jardines on I followed these instructions but ended-up with a very slight exhaust leak at #3 jug (YES..even with new gaskets!!). Test using a thin strip of toilet paper around ports. If it flutters around even the slightest you have a leak.
I ordered two more sets of gaskets and will try again with two gaskets in each exhaust port. Mechanic at dealer suggested this and said it is OK and a very common trick used for aftermarket pipes/manifolds
I will also secure manifold first then wrestle to get pipes on this time. Following the Jardine instructions makes getting the pipes on easier but can produce manifold mis-alignment problems like I have.
Whatever the case IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT. The Jardines and PCIII make the Rocket absolutely spectacular.
The ONLY complaint I have is low speed drive-ability.
The throttle is so "hair trigger" now. The slightest throttle grip movement and you are off to Warp 9 before you know it.
Incredible, freakin incredible, sometimes scary fast, awesome sound, great looks...did I mention my Rocket now seems too fast for my 40+ years of motorcycle riding and racing skills.
More power than one ever needs or expects but it is nice to know it is "On-Tap" for whenever I feel it is necessary.

Go get-em.....

Install my Jardines. What a mother. I put the heat shields
on the exhaust first, that took over an hour to get the heat shields right. I had to spread the 2nd & 3rd exhaust ports.
Also I had to bend the bracket on the left side exhaust pipe.
(the pipe was rubbing the rear hub). I still can't get the right side heat shied right.(any suggestion)? Beside all the
bullsh!t.
The pipes sound awesome. Doesn't sound like any bike I ever heard. Sounds more like a sprint car. (really DEEP & Throaty).
Installing Power Commander tomorrow.
