OK Rick, lets ramp it up and see if you can make a desicion here. Let's say circumstances came to the worst and you were forced to sell one of the two due to events beyond your control. You owned both outright, no finance involved and likely resale value was identical.

Which one you gonna keep and is your decision based more around pragmatic reasons or emotive issues (ie, reasons of the head or the heart)??

PS no fence sitting allowed!

Davo
Davo,

Well, that's just mean. :-D :-D

I'd have to sell the FJR. Then I'd use some of the proceeds to buy either the turbo or supercharger kit for the Rocket, and to relocate the rider's footpegs higher. The reason I'd keep the Rocket instead of the FJR, if I could only have one, is that the type of riding I'm doing is better suited to the Rocket (ride to work, short weekend trips, mild to moderate twisties).

Then I'd buy a lottery ticket and win enough money to afford the Rocket, another FJR, and the new R1. :-D :-D

That's right...Franklin Jello Roosevelt!

The heavy Rocket is outrageous and more satisfying than any other bike....but....it has its frustrating limits. When I am going down a scenic road out in the boonies and want to stop when I am riding the Rocket...often I cannot stop because the effin long kickstand will not allow the bike to settle at an angle cuz of the camber in the road. Plus, I am not about to take it out on a gravel turn off with the potential of dropping it and not being able to get it back up again because of the loose gravel.

Its those situations where I wish I was on my v strom. Yes I could cut the kickstand a bit...and I may just do that.

I also wish I could have a footpeg on the rocket, in addition to the floorboards, that would allow me to comfortably stand up on the bike to rest my weary arse while still going down the road at 90 mph, like I do on my v strom.

Tit for tat different bikes.
Get off an FJR and do a couple hundred miles on an 05 ST and make a comparison. It's no rocket, but it still pulls like a freight train from 2000rpm's and up.

Ugarte,
Gone way off the original subject now but I noted your comment about standing on the pegs to 'rest the weary arse'
I know it's impossible to do this on the R3 setup and have I've almost fallen off the bike with hip cramp [I'll save you the time; yes it's an age problem I'm sure] anyhow, while I responded to the 'Manual' hit, I saw something that might do the job.
Check the two bolt-on's from www.jacklilley.com website - go to the 'Frame accessories' section...
