Well I just found out from TTS that to achieve the 230bhp over the Turbo 203bhp from their blower, you need to install a PC111 as well. They sell the PC in Blighty for another 2900 GBP... that's over $5000 US more. So not only does the Supercharger cost around US$1000 more than the Turbo from Turbo Connections, there is another huge cost.

Mmmmm... Are those extra ponies really worth another $6000 bucks?? Maybe to some Rocketeers..

SteveRed,

I also contacted TTS to find out the price of their supercharger. Here is their reply; "The conversion can be carried out by any competent engineer. But I have an outlet in California and New York. Price is $5000. power is approx 230 wbhp and 200 lb ft torque. (this equates to over 60% power increase at 6000 rpm!!!) drivability is fantastic, standing 1/4 is down to mid 10's and 135 mph.

I too contacted them, seems the correct price is GBP 2.900, not $3.400 as it said in an article in some magazine.
And the PC is not included, but I forgot to ask if You really need it, or it is enough to remap once.
Anyways, the guy at TTS that I spoke to appearantly run the quarter mile with his charged Rocket at 10,8 secs, and, quote, - It sounds like a WW2 Spitfire with the Triumph race exhaust... :shy:

wow, is it that hard to break into the 10's with the rocket and with that much money? i figured since the fastest stock time in the 1/4 mile is 11.2 seconds (based on what i've seen), it shouldn't be that hard or cost that much to break 10's.

Wow, Richard at TTS must be getting deluged with e-mails! I contacted him too, and here's what I got back:

GBP 2950 shipped (today, that's USD 5211.00)

Requires a PC III (lists at dynojet.com for USD 397)

Uses existing exhaust system

Richard provides a map, but suggests getting it tuned to your bike at one of Dynojet's tuning center - don't know what that would cost.

That puts the total price for the supercharger at (rounded off) USD 5600, plus the cost of the tuning. The turbo kit is USD 5395. So for USD 205, plus the cost of tuning, you go from the turbo claimed hp (200) to the blower claimed hp (over 225). Sounds like a deal to me!

But then you didn't include the cost of installation, RickL.
The turbo is far easier to install. I wonder how much to install the supercharger in time and money. Gotta be at least a few hundred $$$ whereas the turbo can be installed in an hour or so.

Right - I would do that myself. According to Richard, it's "relatively easy to install" and comes with instructions, including photos. Part of the kit is stronger clutch springs, so that would be a little extra work...

For me the big advantage of the turbo is that is well hidden, with the supercharger the cops would stop me as soon as I leave my driveway
