Was out for a Sunday stroll in the Tahoe Forest when I came upon a nice lake and a parking lot somewhat filled. I decided to cut between two cars to go back the way I came. I was turning hard left when I suddenly realized I was not going to fit. I thought there was more room but the old pick-up I was going around had it's bumper almost straight out instead of wrapping around the car (if that makes sense). The parking lot had a lot of gravel and cracks. I applied my front brake(duh) and got my foot down too late. For those of you who have not seen a Rocket on it's side, it is not a pretty sight. I stepped off the bike as it was going down and tried to hold her from falling hard (which I did quite well). Hardly any damage except for the shifter. It's now bent and about an inch from the engine which made for driving home rather awkward. Surprisingly, raising her was not that difficult. I admit I'm kind of a big guy, but walking her back up only took a few seconds.
Should have ordered the engine guards. Bummer!

Phew! Got that over with...now you can get on with enjoying your bike!

Dropped mine twice, with no damage other than very slight marring on the brake lever tip. The first time, there were witnesses, so I was trying to snatch it up as quick as I could (like it was no big deal), and hurt my back. The second time, I took my time, turned my back to the bike and lifted with my legs.

I tipped mine. I managed to stall it doing a slow right U-turn on a rough surface with feet down. The weight came over on the right side and it came to rest on the engine bar. I lept off and looked around for immediate help I thought I would need but was able to heave it upright myself quite easily. Got home and checked for damage but none found.

Dropped mine this morning riding through my front lawn. Luckily it fell in the grass so no damage other than dirt caked on the shifter. I noticed that there was a good amount of gas that leaked out of the tank while it was on it's side. Is this normal?

Sure, if you think a Rocket on her side is normal...

I AM a girl. Dropped the R3 twice (figured out what I was doing wrong, too!), first time had to get teen boys from down the street to help pick her up. Asked them if they'd be willing to help me pick up a big motorcycle, one of them asked if it was a Fat Boy. I told them "nothing that small..." Second time, it was at a gas station. By the time I hit the kill switch and flipped the side stand down (both times she went to the right), a nice man stopped, jerked her to her wheels, got in his truck and left. That time it broke the right hand mirror and turn signal, and pinched a wire somewhere so the signals wouldn't work but made a nasty noise!

Without the engine guards the R3 goes down pretty flat to the ground, boy was I happy when my engine guards finally came in! Haven't needed them since, fortunately.

Dropped the Valk Interstate a couple weeks ago, landed with her seat lying downhill. Two ladies stopped to help, I picked up the bike (about the same weight ast the R3 so my time at the gym hasn't been wasted), and went to put her on her sidestand. Over she goes again, but I caught her quickly. The road edge was so steep that even with the short sidestand that Valks have, it kept her pushed over. So the nice ladies held her until I could get back on. Sigh.

But I figure the little stupid things we do keep us alert to avoid the BIG stupid things that get people hurt or killed.
