leaking starter

Anyone have a solution to oil leaking through my starter i have had the dealer look at it and they said i have to replace the o ring on the end of the starter, when i did that i noticed that the oil was actually weeping through the starter. called the dealer and they said that i need a new starter they don't sell internal parts for the starter.
I took the starter apart and noticed an o ring on the inside of the starter and a sealed bearing i can only assume these are the components that are supposed too prevent oil from entering the starter.
My question is has anybody else had this problem and do you have any solutions other than buying another starter.

No idea. Might help to know which bike you have.

Cheers,

No worries, I'll move your post to the RIII forum where you're more likely to get an answer.

Cheers,

Yours is a new situation, one that I too need to be on the look out for on my 05. The options are factory new or rebuild the original. I guess a small motor shop might take a look and offer an opinion before you are forced to buy a replacement. Good luck with the repair.

Exclamation Planning Ahead

Throughout the years, I have noticed that the starters on cycles are one of the things that fail. So, I bought one on ebay from an R III that was being parted out. Gonna go through it and have it ready for the inevitable.

Cheers !!!
