Smell of Petrol / Gasoline...

Good afternoon all,

I just want to get your feedback thoughts on the following:

I have noticed that whenever I first turn the bike off, there is a smell of petrol... but if I go back in the garage later, it does not smell.... so I am wondering - is this normal? Should I be concerned? Or?

It has been this way since I collected it from the dealer a month ago - no better, no worse.

Many thanks, John.

If i remember my physic correctly. When a gas is heated, the energy of the gas increases. The temperature of the gas will rise, and either the pressure or the volume of the gas(or both) will increase. The ole Rocket can run pretty hot. I keep two bikes in the garage and usually keep the garage door open till they cool off..Check your air-filter and spark plugs if the insulator is black or dark brown your running too rich..

JR, I was just wondering did you get the recall on the gas cap, I think it was something about the gasket? cant remember myself but there was a recall and one of the problems was a gas smell! which mine had and it was an intermittent smell! I have not noticed it sence I had the recall done, just an idea? good luck.
