R3T Aftermarket Seats

Has anyone installed a Triumph Longhaul Touring Seat on their R3T?
I know about Corbin, Russell and all the others but if the Longhaul seat works I want to give it a try. Thanks.

I just don't know. After 3 Triumph seats, I'm unsure that their seats are made for real riders. Sure, they feel GREAT on the showroom floor, but how about on the road after 100 miles or so?

No, I really would steer a rider toward the Russell Daylong, the Corbin, the Mustang (when it's available) or one of the many custom seats out there.

Longhaul Seat

So what seat do you have on your R3T?

I installed the Triumph Solo seat and Adjustable Backrest on my R3T. As I suspected, it was much too soft. I was feeling it in the rear after 125 miles. After about 250, it was obvious that this isn't going to work.

Good looking seat, though.

If any of you are thinking to yourselves, "Why didn't he just buy the Corbin?" Well, I should've but I'm really trying to stick with Triumph parts. The loyalty to their accessories has just about ended...

I had a local guy reupholster all four pieces (solo & backrest, pillion & backrest); they look and feel great. Solid, like the Corbin I had on my last bike.

This guy added a dense foam to where the previous seat had cushy foam. And on top of that, he covered everything with marine-grade gator skin. The solo seat retained its shape, though it feels about an inch higher. Too sweet. Not a Russell Day Long, but it'll do for now.

Also, I hear great things about Don Weber, in Albany, OR.

Good luck to you. let us know what you decide on. Inquiring butts want to know!

Most of them feel just great to me!

Thing is, "real riders" themselves aren't turned out in identical batches from the factory. So, naturally, not all seats are going to fit all riders' ...er, needs.

Clarification: Real riders vs riders that ride anything but a 2300 cc Rocket III

Touché.

As a clarification, I should've said "real Triumph riders" (vs a rider who putts along on anything but a 2300 cc Rocket III).

Sorry for the confusion.

In reality, I agree that everyone's butt is different, and pain tolerances vary as much as my last 2 ex wives.

Personally, I prefer a harder seta, like the Corbin. I haven't heard many riders on this site state that they "love" the Triumph offerings. Quite the opposite is true, as revealed by a quick search of this site and the many, many OEM "take off" seats available on e Bay.

Still searching for that perfect seat, comfortable after 200 + miles.

I ran into a guy on my way to Canada that had the long haul seat and the backrest and he said it was great. I put a Corbin on mine and I put several 500 hundred mile days on it and never once was it uncomfortable. I know they feel hard at first but after you get a few miles that goes away and you just feel comfortable.

That's my opinion of the Corbin. Same experience on a previous bike. Felt hard at first but was never uncomfortable, even on the 500 mile days.

Yes, maybe I should've just bought a Corbin instead!

Ah, I'm giving this custom one a few more miles before i give in and go Seat shopping again.

Why would they? People almost always make an effort to complain if they're unhappy with something, but seldom do happy people take the time to state what they feel should be obvious.

Comments on the Web are thus always disproportionately negative. One cannot gauge product satisfaction by what you read there. The Internet, by its nature, will always be more prone to demagoguery than democracy, disparagement rather than discourse, etc.
