10k tune-up

I've made my appointment for my 10k service this week. My custom saddle has finally broken in to the point where comfort is no longer an issue. When you no longer notice your butt/back is hurting you've arrived. My ME880 free tires are at 6500 miles and looking good. Sure loved them on a 500 mile round trip to Seattle last week. It rained on us in both directions. Estimate for the service cost is $750 with a valve adjustment, less without. The bike has been solid, reliable & fun to ride. Now that I've gotten it set up the way I want it I feel it could be the Power Touring Cruiser I had hoped for when I bought it in January.

I've added a second bike as an around town putter. It's a 250 Piaggio scooter. What a stark contrast! 1/10th the displacement yet can run 70 mph and gets 65 mpg with lots of storeage. I can ride the 3 miles to work every day, do my grocery shopping and spend just $5 on gas the whole week. Weekends are for the R3T and long rides.

You may have said elsewhere, but what custom seat did you go with?

Don Weber has a one man shop in Albany, OR. It was $450 for a custom solo saddle. A bargain.

Before I had my 10M done I would have thought 750 would have been outragious but mine was 960 so looks like you would be getting a good deal.

It would appear each dealership is different. I really like my dealer, Cascade Moto Classics, in Beaverton, OR. It's a mom/pop sroe with Uncle Harry as the mechanic.

I paid a little over $750 for my 10k service. I let them do the oil change as well. There was no need for a valve adjustment. At $85 per hour plus parts, I think it's still expensive. I'll do my own oil changes. As for the valve checks, well, if I notice from riding that they need it, I'll have it done. But 7-800 bucks every 6 months is too much.

I'm at 16k miles now, since February this year. Bike runs like a champ. No issues. Crap ! the 20k is coming up fast !

Glad to see your enjoying the Rocket, how long does the riding season last up in Oregon.? Just curious do they have a Piaggo scooter forum. I was hoping to see more pictures, here's one i took with the Canon PS-A95 i'm saving up for that Nikon D5000. Maybe i'll skip the 10K that would cover the cost.. Ride safe..
