cat box/manifold

I have the manifold upgrade in my 06 r3 classic. I am going to put a cat box back on. Will it make it quieter, i'm hoping. will i have to retune it at the dealer? Will it stop the popping on decell?

Hi,

Did you have the bikes ECU remapped when you had the cat removed?, if so, then yes, in my understanding you will need another dealer visit to remap the ECU back to standard.

I have a standard R3, and when I first upgraded to TOR (Triumph Off Road) pipes one had to retrun to the dealer to have a new map installed; and then when I removed the CAT, I needed to retrun again to have another map uploaded to the ECU.

Not sure what long-term engine damage can occur as a result of the wrong ECU mapping on Rockets, but I know from carb bikes, having the mixture wrong over time can cause accelerated valve seat wear.

Maybe best to get the mapping checked out.

Cheers
Steve
