flat tire story

i was on the interstate when i rode over something sharp and all the air went out of my back tire. i didn't know what was going on at first until i tried to lean into a sharp interstate turn. here's a tip for those that haven't experienced this; Rockets don't like to lean when the back tire is completely flat. I struggled through the turn and managed to get from the far left lane to the right hand shoulder. the handling felt like what i think it must feel like to have a car tire on your Rocket. not a good feeling...

note the lighting difference. it's fun waiting on a tow truck.

Nothing worse than being stranded with a flat. I've experienced two going x-country and have PTFD post traumatic flat disorder everytime i see a sharp object in the road or head out on a long trek. I just signed up with AMA road side assistance . Just curious what was the grand total repair. Ride safe..http://www.amadirectlink.com/roadride/motow.asp

$66 for the tow (cheap if you ask me)
$68 for the repair (includes $59 for labor)

not too terrible. at least i didn't have to buy a new tire.

At least you weren't hurt,
thats the main thing.
Negotiated her off to the side of the road and waited,
I can think of a worse day for sure.

If I were you I'd replace that tire. I wouldn't feel safe riding on a plugged tire.

well, new tires are expensive and mine still has lots of life left. they also said they used a patch/plug combo so i get "the best of both worlds".

the weirdest thing is, i noticed a few days later when the front end felt funny that the front tire pressure was at 20. it wasn't like that before the flat and it's not leaking air. not sure how that happened.
