Exclamation I need a new battery and help

I know this sounds dumb, but I just bought an 05 Classic rocket 3 and the battery is dead. I am not sure where it is located, and I don't want to just pull on the side covers to see if they will break first.

Can someone tell me which side of the bike do you access the battery from.

The side cover on the right side has a a keyed lock. The key turns, but it doesn't seem to release anything.

If it matters, the seat was replaced with a Corbin model.

If the seat needs to be lifted or removed, I'll need some direction with that too. Thanks

Doug hello. I have a graphite 05 as well. It is located under the seat. Use the key in the side cover lock and the pull tab on the opposite side under the seat lift the seat off and the battery is under there. Beings the season is almost over I would recommend you pick up a battery tender to maintain it's charge over the winter.

Good luck with your excellent choice of bikes.

Just a small further thought about the seat...when you release the latch with the key, it doesn't necessarily pop up on its own. In fact, and especially with a non-stock seat, you may have to press down a little toward the back of the seat before you turn the key. Then, once the key is turned as far as it will go, try pulling up on the back of the seat.

You might want to upgrade that battery.
I bought a PC625.
I use to have to jump mine on cold mornings.
But with 625 CCA no more problems in the winter.
The pC625 will just fit in the box, but it's tight.
I eventually pulled my battery box out and bent the front lip down on it.

new battery

I replaced it with what was in it. My seat was replaced with a Corbin. That was attached with a couple bolts which needed removed first. Thanks for asking.

I dunno. You'd have to ask Corbin.
