Question after test ride

I recently test rode the Rocket 3 Touring and my wife and I really liked it. Just one question, however; does the shifting ever quite down after break-in? It sounded like dropping barbells ever time I shifted, especially down shifts.

Ive had my R3 for 6 months and at 1st the gear shifts sound unlike a M/C but once you get use to it matches the bike lumpy and solid.
1st gear aways go in with a resounding clunk but after that its quite smooth.

Ha! So, you've noticed that, too.

Mine sounded pretty horrific when I first picked it up. The dealer assured me if would quiet down a bit, reminding me that, "Hey, it's a friggin' big bike with big gears and a big motor--it's gonna sound...BIG."

Having said that, the bike did quiet down during shifting after the 500mile service. Still, though, that KER-CHUNK sound at stoplights is audible...

Hang int here. You'll learn to live with it.

It will quiet down some after the first service is done. Mine has 14k on it now and it still clunks. Then again, my last two bikes did the same thing. I've not had a bike with a quiet trans.

It don't ever go away completely.

If you're looking for stealth, don't get a Rocket.

If you're looking for a real motorcycle, get a Rocket.

Something with that much power and torque, I'd be worried if it didn't make a little noise.

Not like a whimpy v-rod. Got to ride one of them. What a disappointment. Gotta have 6000 RPMs before it does anything. I guess it's a nice little sport bike (except for the forward controls), if you like that sort of thing.

Smile Noise, What Noise, I Don't Hear No Stinking Noise,,,

Square cut gear teeth will do that.

Cheers !!!

Which raises the questions, Why square cut gear teeth?
Cost or function?

Strength with the torque it needs everything it can get, but like the others have said it quietens down quite a bit after 1st service
