Lift for Rocket III

I looking for a lift for the R3. I want to raise it off the ground so I can work on it with the wheels free. The lifts I have looked at would lift on the bottom of the engine which is not suitable. Any suggestions please.

you can get a harbor freight or about any other brand atv lift and make it work.
YOU have to make some minor adjustments,
but if you can handle a rocket, I'm sure you can get er done.
First, you'll need 2 pieces of 2 inch angle iron 13 inches long.
Next you'll need to mount these to the top of the lift with 2 bolts on each piece.
Actually your second step, if I remember correctly is to place the jack under the bike and strap it to the lift.
Lift the jack just high enough to hold the bike upright and lay the angle iron next to the bike.
Mark the top of your lift with paint pens, spray paint, whatever.
also mark the angle iron where you want to drill holes to mount it to the lift.
You'll also want to mark where the holes for the center stand could mount.
you'll drill these holes out on your angle iron pieces.
Then mount the pieces to the top of the lift.
You'll use pins, bolts whatever you're comfortable with to secure the angle iron to the center stand holes.
These bolts will bear the weight and keep the bike from being raised by the sump.
I'll try to get pics and measurements tomorrow, but this is the cheapest, easiest way I've found to raise both ends at the same time,
without damage while keeping your bike safe.

Of course,
There's always this design.

goes into the centerstand holes, and works with the same motorcycle lift jack mentioned above,
but without the attachments.
Others seem to like this.

Hi StevenT,

You probably can get these made up locally; but if you do have problems getting them do a search on ebay for a user called "rocket111ocgb". I recently bought a set which cost me £ 22.50.

Cheers
Steve

I'd agree with R3T, that these should be easy to make if you've got access to a welding kit.

I used them yesterday and the bike was very, stable even at the highest jack setting, and I'd feel confident now to drop the wheels when the time comes for tyre replacement.

They seem to work relatively well, although alignment can be a bit tricky to make sure they are sitting square on the jack lift bars, before starting the lift. The front of the sump provides the third resting point on the front jack lift bar, which aids stability. Once the jack has lifted the bike the massive weight pressing down on these bars ensure that it doesen't move an inch.

Whatever you choose, be careful with 320Kg of dead weight in the air, sounds like a broken foot or worse if it tumbles off (let alone the repair headache)...

Cheers
Steve

Thats one of the things I like about this site,
folks are willing to share info.
I don't check in as often as I ought to,
I'm usually busy, but glad to be a small part of the forum,
none the less.
And if we can help each other and save some money,
or wear and tear on our machines,
Thats always a good thing.

Question will this jack work ok

OK guys I am looking for a lift for the Rocket, found this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1500LB-MOTORBI...d=p3286.c0.m14 at many different sellers and all at different prices, this is the best price so far. My question to all you guys that know your stuff is, will it be sufficient to haul 320lbs of Triumph into the air so as to get the back wheel off the ground ? I will be using it with the lifting plates described in this thread. Any help would be great, if this won't do then please advise. -- cheers

hope the link works I just tried it ok
