Sport screen

Has anybody out there fitted a sport screen to the R3. How does it feel. I dont like the full screens, dont like the wind disturbance behind them and am hoping that the sport screen just covering the headlights will turn enough wind away to stop the buffeting

I have it on mine. It does next to nothing to help with the wind. You can find an in between windshield if you look. It does look good, but does not help the rider.

I guess it's all in what you are after. I have the Flyscreen and never take it off. It removes about 80% of the wind pressure off the chest and that's just what I'm looking for. I keep my mug in the wind and I'm not blown off the seat. I have the shorter windshield but never use it as it blocks too much wind.
When I ride and place my hand out in front of me there is a big "dead' zone from my waist up to the bottom of my chin and shoulder to shoulder wide-perfect IMO.

Sport screen

Thanks for the reply lads, not sure what to do with 2 different replys. I find that the wind comes up between the headlights and I get a bit of a shove sideways occassionaly, so was hoping that the sport screen will stop that. My wife has a screen and I hate the thing, I have never liked them. Thanks

I have included the picture just to make sure we are talking about the same windscreen.

The smaller wind screen that I have does a good job in my opinion of keeping the wind off your chest. The wind does hit me about helmet high. I am 5 10 and the bike has the standard seat and suspension

Thanks for the reply Willy. Yes that is the one I am talking about, think I might go with it and get one. Quite like the clear colour, looks good on your R3. What are the mirrors you have, can you see past your arm. I have been looking for a set that allow me to see past my arm.

Nungers,

The mirrors are triumph teardrop A9638034 $149 and yes I can see past arms and shoulders

they have worked out well and I like the look. You can also get the Oval style which are A9638032 for the same price. If you get the solid stem is $139

Aha.... I'd say that is definitely why there were 2 different impressions. I have the small sportster screen (can't think of its official name) on my Touring in summer and it does absolutely nothing. It's only about one half the size of the one on the classic and is effectively a fashion accessory.

I just installed this same clear sportscreen on My R3. It took just enough wind off of my chest to make it comfortable to ride down the freeway. I hate windscreens so this is the max I will go and its just barely enough in my opinion. But at least it looks good.

There seems to be varying opinions on the subject. I have just had a screen fited as well and am pleased with the result. Didnt really get a long ride with it, (bike did a major breakdown on the way home from the shop ). I dont get the wind movement up through the gap between the headights that pushes me around, and there is no disturbed air that comes around the side behind the screen that you get with the bigger ones.
