engine light?
ok, I'm riding down the road today and look down to see the engine light on! the bike is running fine, get the bike home and it sat for about an hour and I restarted it and the light was still on, so I decided to ride it and see if it was running strangely and it ran just fine, went to the store gave it about 10 minutes, and this time when I started it, no light? just the normal starting mode, any thoughts? thanks.

If I'm reading your post correctly, it should have taken one more start-up/shut-down cycle to clear the light. If it is not a major fault, and it was a transient condition (not an ongoing one), the light will clear after three full normal operating cycles.
Of course, even if it has cleared for now, that doesn't tell you what the cause was. And there's really no way to know that for sure without hooking up a tool that can extract the fault codes. (If you could tell us anything unusual that happened to the bike before this started, we might make a guess, but I'm one who always likes a little more certainty, so I'll know whether the trouble is likely to recur.) If you can find any local auto or bike service shop that can extract the codes from the engine control module, there are several of us here with Rocket service manuals who can look up the meaning for you.

thanks!!
Thanks John, that at least explains why the light went out, the only thing I've had done recently is the tps, had the new one installed 2 weeks ago, the bikes running fine but I feel that I need to no why the light came on, I'll take your advice and take it in to the shop tomorrow? hoping it's nothing serious, thanks for your reply!

Whatever would cause the fault light would have been something that happened immediately before the time it came on. If you can't think of anything obvious that happened at that very time, then it would be worth looking into in greater detail.
You could check your battery connections and any other electrical connectors you can reach easily, for instance, because there are several places within the system where a momentary circuit interruption would cause such a fault. But in the end, the only way to be sure will be to read the stored codes. Please keep us posted.

Huh?
Took the bike into the shop and they told me that they pulled the error code and said that it was the (secondary tps) they said they reset it and I was probably ok to go, told me to keep my eyes on it and see if it happens again! I just had the tps replaced and now the secondary one may be going bad?

Hi Yeti,
Might be worth getting a handheld scanner, that way you can read the DTC (diagnostic Trouble Codes) yourself and also re-set the engine malfunction light. Before I'd replace any sensor that is producing a DTC, just check the loom / connections to it etc, probably if there is a fault in the connection, changing a suspect sensor cures the connection problem but that may be all that is wrong (i.e. the sensor is in fact good)...
Also, DTC's are not always as accuarte as you might think, what I mean is that capturing a DTC from the bikes ECU doesen't mean it's absolutely accurate, I'd treat them as useful clues, and help to narrow the field of investigation.
You can pick up scanners quite cheaply, but you'll need a Rocket III manual for the meaning of the trouble code, unless someone knows of a useful web resource that lists them.
Cheers
Steve

"...unless someone knows of a useful web resource that lists them."
Let's be clear: that does NOT mean an illegal scan of the copyrighted manual. Posting any such link here is a big no-no.
As I said earlier, Yeti is welcome to post the retrieved codes here, and we can look them up.

John,
Agreed, no copyright infringement suggested or inferred, I was thinking more of a publicly accessable resource that may already be in the public domain.
Cheers

Most (not all) OBDII scanners that read and reset Triumph codes come with a book/pamphlet that lists the codes and what they mean.
CEL (check engine light) will reset after 3 heat cycles (once fan turns on after starting) or after a given number of miles. Most Triumphs do so at ~50 miles.

Ok, Now I've got a question.
The wife and me are cruising down the road the other day,
we're about 10 miles from home, when my engine light comes on.
I pull over and kill the engine.
Start looking for obvious reasons, low on antifreeze or oil,
when I see my baffle is gone.
I just got her dynoed a couple weeks ago and she ran like a champ.
Anyway, I called my son to come bring the trailer and we hauled her home.
Ordered another exact match baffle and installed it.
Still can't get the light to go off.
Haven't riden her more than a mile or two just to warm her up.
Don't want to hurt my motor.
Had the key on and off a dozen times though.
Even unhooked the battery hoping that would reset it, no luck.
Any suggestions or ideas??
Thanks guys,
