Ah, you are in the same boat as me! I would love for my wife to ride with me more often, but she complains of the unformfortable seat. Not just with my R3T, but with previous bikes, as well.
I recently bought the Triumph Comfort Pillion Seat and QR Sissy Bar and I hope those items alleviate some of the discomfort.
If not, I'm buying a Goldwing (just kidding!)
Good luck to you, my friend. Many of us feel for you.

By all means do whatever is necessary to make her happy so she will ride with you, I guess I am going to have to trike mine she just doesn't trust all that leaning into corners.
Did she complain about hard ride with the original shocks? Can you dial the new shocks softer? Have you tried a wool seat pad? Does she have a backrest and is it adjusted right? There is a thread on the site about relocating the passenger pegs to clear hard bags, you might follow that path to gain some leg room.
You are a lucky guy to have a wife that is willing to ride, so make certain that your riding style isn't scaring the beegee out of her and her external statement is hard seat so don't want to ride. And finally, two Rockets might solve the problem.

Keep The Lady Happy !!
The most comfortable looking passenger seat that I have seen is done by Day-Long. Don't have it myself, but it sure looks comfy. You would probably have to do the riders seat as well.
Cheers !!!

IF you've got a standard with the solo seat, check out ebay for a boulevard wide body pileon.
I paid 14.00 for mine and cut the stock pileon off and pop riveted that on in its place.
Shes happy with the results.

Hey Tim,
You could do worse that having a look at Cumfy Motorcycle seats.
http://www.australiancumfymotorcycleseats.com.au
They're in Melbourne. I have just had my stock R3T seat done. I had the foam replaced, riders section moved back 2 inches (I'm 6'7") and the pillion shaped to follow the rear guard profile (I'll be using it mostly solo.) Where I used to get 20 minutes of comfort on the stock seat and 40 minutes on the Triumph Gel seat, I now ride 90 before discomfort is first noticed.
I'm about to send the Gel seat off to have the foam replaced for two up riding. I have no reason to believe the results will not be as impressive for The Chosen One. The Cumfy guy will talk over the changes with you, you pack and ship it down and he'll return it in a week or so. My mods cost around $350 aussie. Much cheaper than getting a DayLong shipped out.
regards, Pete

I agree that the stock seat is a real pain in the *. I have R3 2009 and the riders seat detaches with a key and leaves the pillion seat. I have been looking at Gel seats but not sure which is the right one.
I just want the riders seat but cant find it on the net. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I agree 100%!
I bought the Triumph solo seat and adjustable backrest for my R3T. As well, I bought the comfort pillion for the wife. Haven't installed them yet; I'll let you know how they work out.
Still, one can't go wrong with a Corbin (available now) or a Mustang (not yet made for the Rocket III).
This is just another reason why I wonder: What was Triumph thinking?

I look up the corbin, thanks. I rode my Bonny 1700 kms , 400 kms per day earlier this year and it wasnt too bad but the R3 after 100 kms is a killer. Starts off comfortable then just gets hard.
