Sound is only slightly better IMHO. Guess I need the cat bypass. Anyone out there also first install TORs with cat and later w/ cat bypass? Just trying to set my expectations.

Also, anyone try to make their own cat bypass? I've seen muffler shops do some amazing stuff with plain steel tubes. I would think a shop could make this pipe for a lot less than $350.

Thanks

did exactly the same as yourself, now with the fully open system shall we say ! and the re-mapping to the 20055 tune the bike is much louder with quite a nice low rumble on idle. Only complaint is popping on the overun which when I first fitted the tor`s was evident but muffled, when the cat bypass went in as well it was rampant !the tune calmed it a little but it`s still there. After many years with italian and jap machinery I put the fueling of the engine down to it being symtamatic of Triumph`s build quality in general, that being as rough as a badgers arse, but saying that I still love the bike !

Here in UK I paid $630 for TORs
$600 for Decat
but they do make good power.

How do you know ?
have you had it dyno`d, what was it pushing out at the back wheel ? I had a blackbird before the rocket and I think the hp after mods might be a tad optimistic, thats my seat of the pants feeling !

I think mine has 20056 pops most with hard downshifts.a pal has a std R111 we ride out together
sometimes swapping bikes. We both agree his is smoother
under 2500rpm but above that mine pulls noticeably harder
leaving his behind. I will dyno it as is my guess is 140 rwhp, then fit Jardines Pc3dyno again to compare, when they get here.

My dealer has an R3 with the same setup as mine (TORS and cat bypass). He dynoed his at 151 ft lb torque. I think the HP was over 140.

When the FAQ's were up, they said that the map for this setup is 20054, ne c'est pas?

Interesting stuff, been out on mine tonight and the only thing I can say is that at slow speed (as aproaching a junction ) the link between throttle and engine is not as smooth or as finely tuned as it once was,Great when going fast, not so great in town.
I think a power commander and dyno run would sort it,
the pdi and servicing by the dealer Ive used has left a lot to be desired, this dosn`t help !

I asked my dealer which tune he put on it and he said the one that Triumph specified. I believe it. The bike runs perfectly except for backfiring on decel everyone here says is not a problem.

My dealer is doing extensive testing on this bike - all of the tunes, different pipe configurations (including Jardines, which he has), and whatever changes they can make on the injectors. He doesn't have a Power Commander yet, which to me means it's not available. I'm not sure they have programs for all of the various exhaust configurations - their web site doesn't include the TOR/cat bypass configuration - (does it?).
