I have some of the Triumph branded 4T Racing Oil for my rocket and was wondering if those big jugs are 4 Liters. It's not very clear on the labeling.
If a jug of that oil is 4 Liters, then I'd need 2 @ $45 each! to replace 5.4 Liters per oil/filter change. YIKES! Even if I go 10k miles per oil change like the manual states, that's pricey - like I'd let my oil go that long anyways, 5k miles per change sounds more resonable to me.
Anyways, 5 quarts of Mobil 1 for my truck costs less than $25. That 4T stuff better be something special, but hell, only the best for my Mistress.

I do my oil changes every 5K as well. I know it is expensive but I do it as well. On my tbird I change the oil ever 3K miles but it takes a bit less than a single jug .

You're not planning to throw away the unused part of the second jug, are you?
If you are, I'll send you a postage-paid box to mail it to me! :-)
If not, then that's not "2 @ $45" for each oil change. You'll use the second jug next time around, and the time after that, and probably once in a rare while to top up the oil between changes, too. It won't spoil.

Hmmm... that 2/3 jug is still worth $32... yeah, I think I'll keep that Diego.
Still... considering the useable leftovers, we got almost $61 for oil and (how much did that oil filter cost again?)... maybe $10 for the filter. That's over $70 for a DIY oil change. If oil change costs were a bragging right, I'd be proud. Probably beat out a Ferrari and MAC truck.

According to the dealer, if you keep the extra oil, you should save having to buy a jug about every forth or fifth oil change.......sounds good considering the price,,,,,, :-)

So what you're sayin' is that buying a 200kt. seaplane with which to do "mile hi" flights is totally out of the question???
:-D
As to the oil why are you guys still even considering the "motorcycle only" oils? We've beat this absolutely to death on this forum months ago. Do a search to see the past discussions. AARG!!! :hammer:

Just because something has been beaten to death doesn't speak to its credibility.
At least with motorcycle-only oils, you can have reasonable certainty of not getting additives you don't want. Some people use any old sludge and seemingly get away without damage, but Triumph do still urge keeping additives out. They research, design, build and warrant tens of thousands of engines a year, so guess who I'm a-gonna listen to.

I agree with Diego on this one. If you stray to far from the manufacturers recommendations, you likely will have BIG trouble if warranty work is required on the engine. Play it safe...
