An Odd Thing Happened to My Licnese Plate Bracket?

I started getting my Rocket ready for the new season. During this time I lightly bumped my license plate and the bracket broke in half leaving my plate and blinkers dangling. Now I know I never bent or bumped into something. I am extremely careful.

Has anyone had this happen? I have a specialty plate "MASSIVE" and the chrome border plate has hex screws to prevent it from being taken off easily.

I am thinking someone may have tried to bend the whole plate back and forth to get my plate..But that is just conjecture.

There are guys out there who collect lience plates, but my guess would be their probably going after the $60.00 chrome frame. That's pretty pricey for the average rider. http://www.newr3.com/html/license_plate_frame.html

I was hoping the new bracket I ordered from Bike Bandit would have arrived by Saturday so I could replace the broken one, but it didn't.

But the engine guards I ordered from Rivco did arrive. I put them on this afternoon. I was a little cautious with the front engine bolt I was a little anxious that the engine would shift and the holes might not be aligned making it a pain to get the bolt back in. But it went okay and the bracket were on in under 30 minutes.

Next I am going to look at highway pegs for the guards.

I finally changed out the bracket now that it looks like it is riding season. Still a little cool but ride able.
I had about 3/4 of an inch of good metal the rest was where the breaks were. The break was tarnished where the new break was shiny. I can not tell if someone attempted to break it off or if it was just defective.

I can say it was a pain to change it. I had to remove all the screws to the bracket and the rear light. I had to disconnect and seperate out the blinkers. It took longer than I thought it would. But I shifted my plate up one from it's original position and it looks good.
