R3T - First 1000 Miles

I've had my R3T for 12 days now. I've only ridden 5 of those days. 1000 miles this morning !!!

This bike continues to impress me. I have since fitted the Long Haul dual seat with the backrest. I have also put on the Triumph front dresser bars with some Kuryakyn offset pegs. I've also installed the Auxiliary Light bar, and finally a Stebel air horn in the left side cover.

The handling on this bike is terrific. I seem to be taking turns / curves faster than I did on my VTX. Most likely this is due to the higher ground clearance. The floorboards were scraped down to near nothing on the VTX. I've only scraped the boards once on the Rocket, at about 55.

She's very smooth on the highway. Although I think I will save up for a Clearview screen that's a bit taller and wider. It only bothers me when it's very cold, or when I'm wearing a half helmet. This bike is also very quiet. On a recent ride, my friends pointed out that they could not hear my bike much when I launched it. Roll on full throttle, and it's very quiet.

I am still 'getting used to' the low speed handling. I really just need to go and practice in a parking lot. The weight is balanced well. I can certainly complete basic and emergency maneuvers, just not with the confidence I had previously. That will just take some time. No worries.

This bike is an awesome ride. I get people interested in it most every place I go.
It's nice to have something different and be proud of it.

And thanks to those who have offered help and advice here.

The backrest with the Long Haul seat is much improved over the stock seat. It's not up to the standard of a custom seat though.
I still need to get some risers for the bars. I hear Rivco are going to release theirs for the R3T next month. That's my next purchase, when I have the $$$.

Crazyman I think you are right. My Rocket 3 Classic handles better than expected in the twisties. All the reviews I read over the past two years didn't give the Rocket the praise it deserves for the way she handles in the curves. Unless there is a surprise I don't know about in certain road conditions, the Rocket is one fine bike.
I have about 250 miles so far.
