Faking the alarm

Does anyone know how to 'fake the alarm'? ie make the LED on the dash flash when no alarm is fitted? Want to do that as a deterrent until I can afford the nearly £400 the dealer wants to supply and fit the OEM alarm.

fake it with one of these...

http://www.talonalarms.com/build/index.php

It's a plug and play and interfaces directly with the alarm light (just like the factory alarm). Buy the specific harness and you only need to supply hot and ground connections.

about $220 US.

Thanks John. I guess even the cheapest one will do the job. Now I just need to find a Talon supplier in the Uk.

It's a Canadian company...they will ship international. BTW, the alarm is full featured...you're not giving up anything with their top of the line unit.

Good luck...

Thanks. Looks like a good piece of kit. Only problem I have is that the UK supplier (triumph-online.co.uk) say the plug and play loom does not fit the R3 as the connector is under the tank and the box has to go under a side panel - they say the wiring isn't long enough. So will only sell it on the basis that I take the risk of it fitting (I think that is what they are implying).

Anyone fitted one of these Talons with the Triumph loom to an R3? I really would like to fit one but do not want to cut into my loom.

I don't know what you guys have over there, but over here in the states we have a nationwide store called "Radio Shack". You can go in there and buy a flashing LED and a small toggle switch and wire it up. Hide the switch somewhere, and when you want it to flash, flip the switch and away you go (I did the fake alarm deal on my last vehicle, so that's how I know it works. Don't know if anybody ever wanted to steal it, but nobody did and that's all that matters)

Hope that helps.........

Thanks. Probably will - as the Talon loom looks a bit complicated to mess with!

Yeah, it's brutal...

probably a bit simpler than wiring a fake one from Radio Shack.

Good luck...

You want simple - and CHEAP!! Here's some web links for ya..........

http://store.32sports.com/authdelifcar.html

http://samfe.com/Flashing-Simulated-...source=froogle

http://www.amazon.com/NIGHT-FLASH-NZ...ef=pd_sbs_sg_1

And a nice one from AeroStich:

http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/...t-p-17884.html

Getting back to the subject - I think Eagle would prefer the OEM alarm and wanted something inexpensive until his finances could afford it. So, ranging from $5.99 to about $32 (and probably freight) it doens't get any easier than this. Hope that helps...
