Clamp-ons anyone?

Is there any experience with clamp-on bars for the T-3's here?
I would like to increase the forward lean/lower the bars on my 96' Trident 900.
Really wondering how the bars may affect the relationship with the tank, possible interference?
Kinda dig the cafe stance, give me a reason to duck down out of the wind a bit.... neck is wearing out on the highway trips..

If you want to clamp bars below the top triple, you'll need to figure out alternate headlight mounting options.

It should be possible to mount CBR600 bars above the top triple. There is a locator peg on the Honda bars that would have to be ground off, but otherwise it seems possible. I've only test-fit them on Daytona/Super III forks, so I'm not 100% they'll fit on the 'dent, & the bars obviously have to be from the years when the CBR600s had 43mm forks.

Cheers, HTH,
-Kit

I have Tommaselli clip-ons on my Sprint mounted below the top triple clamp. I have a different after market headlight bracket so they work fine.

The riding position is great, you will actually feel more a part of the bike as you are snug into the tank and yes, wind resistance is greatly improved. Once you get up to highway speeds, the weight exerted on your wrists is nil as wind pressure lifts the torso. If you use your legs and abs for support there shouldn't be any weight on your wrists anyway.

Give it a go, I reckon you will like it!

Cheers,

Roden

Daytona clip-ons are the way I'd go. You just have to sort out the headlight mount. I may even have an extra set lying around. I have to agree with Roden... The riding position is great. The only thing I would warn about is city driving can be a pain. You will put more of your weight on your arms with the bars lowered. I wouldn't have it any other way though.

Can anyone give me an idea of exactly what parts and work are involved in fitting the Daytona bars on an early Trident? (I'm looking at '91-'94-ish bikes, and really want the lower riding position).

I'll probably be buying the parts from ebay, so what exactly do I need to source?: Do I need to change to a Daytona top yoke (triple tree) as well as the bars? Do the Trident controls all swap over easily onto the Daytona bars, or do I need to modify any of the cables? And can anyone recommend a suitable alternative to the Trident headlamp bracket?

Kit or anyone, For fitting Daytona bars to a Trident, would it be possible to cut the headlight mounting tubes down the width of the bar clamps, then mount the bars immediately below the top triple, but above the headlight mounting tubes??? Seems like it might work to me, as the bars could be lowered enough to clamp on the headlight tubes and hold everything together.

From my limited experience, it seems like that should be doable. There could be hidden gotchas, but the only one that occurs to me off the top of my head is that you'll probably want a fresh set of the rubber bushes that go in the tubes.

Cheers, let us know how it goes if you do this...

Speedtriple fixings

How about using Speed Triple or Daytona clipons with the headlight brackets from a Speed Triple? The Speed Triple has clipons mounted below top triple clamp so its' brackets should do the trick
